Hi MC,
Many vets do prescribe the 1/4 tab as a starting dose but if I read
that the starting dose is between a 1/8 and 1/4 tab, I always start with
the lower dose. My vet started Fred with a 1/8 dose back when he needed
it, since we've got his phosphorus down he hasn't needed it. Every o

Pepcid can be hard on the tummy too if too much is given, the
starting dose is usually 1/8 of a pill every other day, CRF cats get
this fairly regularly since most develope tummy acid sooner or later as
the CRF progresses. Thankfully Fred hasn't needed this yet. If you can
get him to eat
this is when it gets so frustrating--so many things could be causing it, and
many of them benign. i have no real suggestions beyond those offered so far;
i have a couple who vomit clear fluid often--but have done so for most of
their lives, and it's clearly not indicative of anything.
good luck...

Any more symptoms? How's the breathing? Does he eat?
You've already gotten some good suggestions. Perhaps try the piece of
Pepcid AC (or Zantac). Dont' however get the one with other stuff in
it (no pepto bismal, of course).
Sure hope he's doing better!

I have no idea if this is right or not and am only putting it on the table
for you to consider..The Royal Princess Kitty Katt did that when she
started having trouble with her pancreas. She was much older and not FeLV+.
I know there are lots of causes for vomiting, especially clear "thr
Hi Tracy,
I strongly recommend giving Freckles 1/4 pill of original Pepcid A/C. I
believe you can give it twice a day, but check on this first. It will help to
settle his stomach. It works for our elderly Julie. She also had that clear
throw up during her last crash; I think it's basically
I'm not really the expert here... but a couple of ideas. Maybe try some
petromalt for hairballs. And I'd just try to get him to eat anything at all
that he likes... maybe baby food, anything--doesn't have to be the
healthiest thing--just to give him a bit of nutrition and fluids...
