Use the smart shape tool (looks like a slur) and select the thing that looks
like a "tr" double click where you want it to start and drag to where you
want it to end.

The timpani part has 2 half notes with a squiggle across the top of
the note values, so it means a drum roll. I know in Sibelius you can
insert a "TR" and drag the squiggle as far as you want, what's the
method for doing this in Finale?

could delete to solve various font problems. I am currently having a
