I'm using Win Finale 2007.
I've seen some recent discussions on Popchar - I do use that utility with
Word documents. I've used it with Finale to insert special characters
(non-IPA). I couldn't get the insert to work, but I got the ASCII code from
Popchar
My guess would be to download an actual IPA font and use it. It would
have all the symbols without resorting to Unicode. Search on Google for
IPA fonts and the ones by SIL are particularly nice ones. I've tried
them before.
