Hello,
For those of you who use Macintosh and the full GPO, and have been
waiting for the Kontakt 2 player:
Native instruments earlier this week posted the GPO Kontakt 2 player
for download from their site . It isn't on the Garritan site yet,
and I have read that Gary Garritan is giving
PLEASE WAIT!
It was released prematurely by NI without Garritan's knowledge or approval!
Please wait for Gary's word.
There are some Finale issues in the way KP2 and HP interact, as well as some
more general issues, including an installer that evidently does not place the

MANY thanks to Johannes, Hiro, Leigh, and Randolph for helping with
this. It turned out that I needed to trash the preferences. I have,
as a precaution, also now repaired permissions (I forget to do this).
Hiro, you recommend Disk Warrior? I've not ever tried it, and

Hey David,
It's definitely something of a public beta.
If you're desperate for Intel compatibility (as I was), then go ahead
and grab it. But be warned:
- Almost all of the Garritan-specific Human Playback features are
broken (keyswitches, slurs, dynamics, controllers, etc). HP will need

Also, do you happen to know when the Marching library will be

I can personally attest to the value of DiskWarrior (http://
www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/). It really pulled me out of a bind a
couple of months ago when my Powerbook G4 hard drive crashed and
burned. It was able to recover a good deal of the files from my

Right now, reports are that JABB does not work with the K2 PLAYER. The full K2
is fine.
As to other products, the unfortunate reality is that the current problems with
NI have pushed back a lot of things in the pipeline. The other unfortunate
reality is that while the fault is NI's,
i have generated some line graphics in illustrator and exported to
eps; when placed in a F2007 doc, the whole thing is black with a
veery low-res image of the lines (much worse than i have
experienced before with EPS representation in finale). it prints
fine, but i can't see
although i wonder if it has something to do with finale, that finale
doesn't interporet transparent EPS images correctly? because i
recently did this in another score, and again it wasn't transparent
on screen, but in the printed version it was fine.
i meant to say that the fill was white

Keep in mind that no fill and certainly a white fill does not
mean the graphic is transparent.
taht makes sense, but i haven't found anywhere that i can specify
this. although it IS in fact transparent, because when i print from

Can you put another graphic or something else behind it to test its
transparency? Maybe in Quark or some layout program.
i don't have quark or pagemaker; tested in illustrator (graphic tool

there already.

I've always been able to just Cut/Paste from Piano/Guitar staves into
whatever horn line is going to be playing those changes, and the
transposition handles itself.
