I'm writing a jazz piece for SATBB where the first
two measures have quarter rest-quarter-quarter rest-quarter with an X instead of
the headnote and a text block telling "finger snaps".
As I have to send the midi of this thing to singers
I want these measures muted. Any clue to do that?

The easiest way to do this is to put the Voice notes in another layer,
and to assign that layer to another MIDI
