Re: [Flashcoders] creating MovieClip frames via code?

2007-04-12 Thread Newsdee

Hi Dr.ache,

I see what you mean, it looks like some animation technique used on CSS
(animate by changing the underlying image). I guess I can give that a shot.

Hi Ben,

Actually that's not what I need, but thanks. I am already controlling the
enterFrame events of all clips from a centralized location, but I was
looking at what code I can run to do this. Dr.ache's method should do the
trick...

Regards,
Newsdee.

You can use e.g. the technique described below in conjunction with the
onEnterFrame method of the movieclip object. It is not possible to
"create" frames through AS, but it is possible to react on a frame
change (a 1 framed mc also animates. It just sits on the same frame
conceptually).

Try something like this in frame 1 of your Movieclip to get the picture:
(make sure you draw something in it to see the effect)

this.onEnterFrame = function() {
this._x += 1;
}

You see? It will animate across the screen. Hope this helps you enough
to get the bigger picture.

try the following. load your grid bitmap (jpg) into an mc and mask it
with a movieclip with exactly the dimensions your single sprite on your
grid bitmap has.

now let the movieclip under your mask change position in a way that your
wanted animation bitmap looks through.

got it?

Re: [Flashcoders] AS2 TextField with html content question

2007-04-12 Thread Rkos Attila

MK> If a TextField in AS2 contains images, how does one detect that the images

An image in a textfield is actually a movie clip. Displaying an image
in a textfield is same as loading an image into a movie clip with
loadMovie(). If you set the id attribute in the img tag, you can
access the image (container movie clip) by referring to this id as a
property of the textfield and do whatever you want with it (e.g.
monitor download progress with getBytesLoaded() and getBytesTotal()).

myTextField.htmlText = "";

function onEnterFrame() {
  trace(myTextField.image1.getBytesLoaded() + " / " +
myTextField.image1.getBytesTotal());
}

I think you have to use a placeholder. So in you html code that is
rendered in the input field set the width and height:

To detect if images are loaded I think you will have to make something
like a proxy class that handles the loading of the images (offscreen for
instance)

[Flashcoders] Flash Player Communication Error?

2007-04-12 Thread Doug Coning
Good Morning,

I have a sample SWF file that I've been provided by a client that when
opened, connects to a data source via XML Socket. I have created a
similar SWF file that communicates with their data source via XML
Socket, however when my SWF file is opened, it shows the "Macromedia
Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation" error and
requires that the file be set in the global settings as a trusted site.
Their file does not trigger this error. I have looked at the original
ActionScript code and can't see the difference.

Could the error be triggered by the version that the swf is compiled at?
Why would one swf file trigger the error and another not, even though
they are calling the same data source and are in the same directory?

Any feedback is much appreciated!!!

[Flashcoders] PrintJob acting weird

2007-04-12 Thread Flap Flap

Hi there,

I got a simple code to print a mc.
This mc is special for printable content and not show (_visible = false)

Here is my print code :

var pj : PrintJob = new PrintJob();
   if (pj.start()) {
   pj.addPage( view.mcPrint, null,  {printAsBitmap:Boolean});
   pj.send();
   }
   delete pj;

Quiet simple...

Offline on local test eveything is ok.

Online on the testing webserver, printing set all the swf to black (!!) and
player say "Movie not loaded" (Translated from french maybe not the exact
message)

If I do not do the send and not set the printAsBitmap option, printing dont
set the swf to black but not print some content (text not in dynamic field)

Very strange I think ! Any clue ?

Re: [Flashcoders] String to array

2007-04-12 Thread Muzak
That's because the data hasn't loaded yet. Loading external assets is
asynchronous, so it takes time for them to load.
How long it takes depends on how large the data is and how slow/fast your
connection is.

To determine when external assets have loaded and are available an event
mechanism is your best option.
loadVariables and loadVariablesNum don't have such an event mechanism and
therefor you should no longer use them (unless you're
publishing to Flash 5).

With Flash 6 a new class was introduced to handle loading external assets,
LoadVars, which has an event mechanism (onLoad/onData).

http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/8/main/2323.html
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/8/main/2331.html

Try the following (not tested):

import mx.utils.Delegate;

var _lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();

function loadvarsLoadHandler(success:Boolean):Void {
trace("Application ::: loadvarsLoadHandler");
trace("- success: "+success);
trace("- myVars: "+ _lv.myVars.split(","));
}

this._lv.onLoad = Delegate.create(this, this.loadvarsLoadHandler);
this._lv.load("FlashMenuLoader.asp");

// asp return value (note there's no spaces between words, just the comma):
&myVars=Corporate,Fund of Funds,Single Manager Funds,Perfomance,Client
Services&dummy=

Re: [Flashcoders] String to array

2007-04-12 Thread Arul Prasad M L

Looks like you are not waiting for the data to be loaded into your SWF
before you split.

Try using LoadVars and wait for the onLoad event, and then do a split.

something like:

var _lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
_lv.load(FlashMenuLoader.asp);
var my_array:Array;

_lv.onLoad = function ()
{
mm_array = mivariable.split(",");
trace(mm_array);
}

Haven't tested that, but you'll get the basic idea.
Hope that helps.

Re: [Flashcoders] Does Domain name play any role in within slide movement?

2007-04-12 Thread Vivek Lakhanpal

Hi Everyone,

As soon as i thought that my flash player slides playing problem is solved
and it's working fine with placing allSecureDomain("*") in called file, with
introduction of new feature it's again not playing properly.

This time we have introduced Transitions in the Flash player so that user
don't see blank screen between slide change.

The problem is it's working fine when played with full domain name. But it
plays erratically when played with sub-domain name.

For e.g. if you play this presentation

http://authorstream.com/Presentation.aspx?pun=Infatuated-283-illusion-maya-fake-unreal-presentaion-powerpoint

It sometimes plays fine. but sometimes blank screen start coming in between
slide transitions.

Where as if you play the same presentation with full domain name. i.e.

http://www.authorstream.com/Presentation.aspx?pun=Infatuated-283-illusion-maya-fake-unreal-presentaion-powerpoint

It's playing fine.

Any idea why it's behaving this way?

FYI for transition i am using 2 movie clips and changing their depth and
unloading the clip from the bottom clip as soon as the movie is loaded into
top clip.

All I can find is picker components send colors out of the component, but
