[Flashcoders] weirdness in flv playing

2009-07-06 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello list,

I load a flv with NetConnection class, and I pause it just after it starts.
So, I wait it load 100%, to play it w/o any lag. The issue is, when it's
100% and I plays, it starts play fast, like two times the normal speed. If I
reload my page, as it's cached, it backs to regular speed...

Have anyone already encountered some similar issue? Seems the pause in my
net connection is messing up my flv frame rate...

Thank you,

Re: [Flashcoders] cms solution for flash sites?

2009-06-29 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Recently I worked with a team, using Expression Engine. Core module is free,
and additional modules are paid, but really not expensive. The job was very
smooth and seems the cms is really easy to customize, generating xml based
on templates. I'm going to buy some book to learn it and start a new
project. Will the list know as soon I have a better basis with it.

yeah, I saw it.. and it seems rss works well.. I'll just try some tests to
check if I'm able to crossdomain load the flv..

will let you know when I'm done, it may be useful for someone that needs it
also..

Thanks!

hello!

@Nate: Thank you so much by the so clear explanation.. I don't have much
experience with JSON and that's why I didn't get it if blip.tv was possible
through flash.. but your last emails were great, and a great step to learn
it.. About google, well, I really agree with you that it needs to be the

that I didn't get the files and process to do in my case, and that's why
I've posted in that forum.. thank you so much, Nate!

@Muzak: I saw that they require a login/pass, and now I know that can be
possible use the api from flash, I'll dig for register and get a login info
to me and check it better right now.. thanks Muzak!

Re: [Flashcoders] blip.tv api?

2009-06-18 Thread Fabio Pinatti
I think I'm either being a little stupid or I didn't get how that api can
work with flash. I see just some zips with java and weird extension files,
but no way to call/integrate them from flash. That's the kind of api I asked
for, since it's a flash forum. ;)

Clear now? Thanks!

Re: [Flashcoders] issue with mc height

2009-06-01 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello!

@Andrei, hey pal, your solutions seems to work. For me that issue was a big
surprise and the fix more yet, since I thought when content is masked (like
my case), the off area wasn't rendered. Pretty good know about that.

@Karl, your fix is a lot elegant and it would be the pretty nice in terms of
acessibility improvement, but you know, as the website (that was a bit
problematic) is done, I'm scared in redoing a lot of code... But I'll keep
the advice in mind, sounds very good.

I will keep you posted if the problem persists

Thanks!

[Flashcoders] issue with mc height

2009-05-31 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello all,

I'm running an issue that is taking my sleep away. If you go to that url:

http://www.costanostra.net/costinha/

you'll see a lot images loading. So, I load one, after loaded I show it,
start load the second one, etc. Until all my xml is complete. The big issue
is, in a moment (almost in the all xml loading end), a greyed rectangle
appears over my images. Seems that black rectangle has the hue of one of the
latest images loaded. Not sure why or what this is happening, but looks like
some issue about the maximum movieclip height. If you see the last image of
list, it's weird, seems the pixels are pulled along the image, and then the
issued image starts again in 0 y position.

I have a trace after all images being loaded, I have a total height of
19209px (yes, I know, It's a lot big). Any thoughts about that maximum
movieclip height? Suggestions? The website is basically done, but I'm
suprised with that size issue =(

Thank you

Re: [Flashcoders] Problem with footer fixed to bottom of page

2009-05-21 Thread Fabio Pinatti
I suppose it should be:

footer.y = stage.stageHeight - footer.height;
footer["footer_bar"].width = stage.stageWidth;

since footer_bar is nested into footer.

Kind Regards,

[Flashcoders] memory in avm1 movies

2009-05-04 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello coders,

We discuss a lot of garbage collection for avm2. But the point is, for avm1
loaded inside avm2, as I don't have addEventListeners in as2, is there some
possibility to release memory used, and/or is it necessary?

I'm asking because I'm building a portfolio in as3, that will load some as2
stuff, like banners and small pieces.

Thanks!

Re: [Flashcoders] Benefits of as3 - to the client

2009-04-22 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello,

yeah, that's why I was fighting with myself to find a good reason to convert
it. There's no logical reasons, the only one I really find is maintenance or
redesign.

Your help was precious, thanks!

[Flashcoders] Benefits of as3 - to the client

2009-04-22 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello coders,

A question I was wondering here. A client of mine has a website built with
as2. And I explained him I work now with as3, but he asked what the real
benefits for him, to convert his project to as3.

I would like to have some good arguments, but I can find more benefits for
me, as developer, than for the client.

I would like to know your thoughts and advices about that.

Thanks

Re: [Flashcoders] water effect

Hey Andrei, that's so nice. Even without a threshold filter I can get
impressive results with just the blur + bevelfilter.

The simple works a lot in most of cases. I couldn't think in a so elegant
solution =)

Thanks so much

Hello list,

At this page: http://www.nossa.pt/#/home

I'm wondering how this home page effect can be achieved to a work that I'll
start to do. I thought in some thing about blobs, but not sure how it can be
achieved.

Move the mouse over the drop and you'll see...

Any ideas?

[Flashcoders] multiple masked mcs

2009-04-12 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello list,

straight and forward, sorry if the question is stupid: In flash timeline, I
can mask any elements as I wish, with just a single mask. isn't it possible
with actionscript? I know, I can add everything to a holder movieclip and
mask it, but there's nothing like setup a mask property to several
movieclips, right?

Thanks!

[Flashcoders] point in a circle

2009-04-09 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello list,

since I ran from math classes, I have a question that I'm almost sure it's
not hard to solve, but I don't know how to. I put a image at
http://pinatti.com.br/circle.jpg, where it's a circle with red dots. I need
to compute red dots's x/y position. The data I have is the angle that I
increment (in this case 45º each round), and the distance (the hypotenuse,
right?).

Any ideas for this math?

Thanks in advance..

[Flashcoders] live streaming

I need to collect some resources about live video streaming and live sound
streaming with flash or other tool you advice me. As I never worked with

some cheap/good? Is there some api to help with that?

Any help would be very appreciated...

Re: [Flashcoders] where did the mouseX go?

2009-03-11 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Event types doesn't have mouseX. Only MouseEvent has, and even, you should
use target or currentTarget and get it.

ie:
addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, mousecords);

function mousecords(event:Event):void {
xTween.continueTo(event.target.mouseX, duration);
yTween.continueTo(event.target.mouseY, duration);
}

or in your case, just use the mouseX directly from object:

function mousecords(event:Event):void {
xTween.continueTo(getChildByName(your_cosilla_name).mouseX, duration);
 yTween.continueTo(getChildByName(your_cosilla_name).mouseY, duration);
}

Hope that works for you

[Flashcoders] advice to ms word/xml

2009-03-05 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello list,

not a question, just an advice with a problem I was fighting here and to
help the ones that can have it too.. When populating a xml content, never
paste directly the text from word or other editor that preserves any extra
formatting. For any reason, some chars (invisible) were breaking my text
only in browser, but into flash it worked now... I stay hours to see that
the problem wasn't my code... =) So, first copy the text to notepad, and
then to your xml, in case you don't use notepad as xml editor.

Hope I help some XML souls,

Best

2009-03-05 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello Dennis,

thank you, but one question. In the case, my MovieClip B wasn't loaded by a
Loader Object. I mean, it is a simple movieclip in stage. Even that way has
it a Loader? I thought just elements loaded with Loader class had it...

Thank you!

[Flashcoders] mouseEnabled Loader issue

2009-03-04 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello flashcoders,

I'm having some issues with some target things, in as3. I need to access a
movieclip A under a movieclip B. Movieclip A is in a swf, and B in other
above it. My first try was mouseEnabled. but it didn't work. The weird is,
if I put a mouse click in the stage of movie that has movieclip B (that is
the one I'm not having sucess in disable). the event.target returns a Loader
object. Why is this happening? I thought I could just use mouseEnabled =
false to access lower level movieclips, but for different movies, seems that
that Loader preserves a hit area, that I don't know how to disable.
Actually, one thing works:

in swf B:

private function click(e:MouseEvent):void {

  e.target.mouseEnabled = false;

}

This works on first click, since the Loader target is disabled. Then, I'm
able to click on under movieclip, the movieclip A. But I can't leave user
clicks... I need to disable before any user interaction... The big question
is, why is it getting a Loader target?? How can I disable Loader mouse
interaction?

Thanks so much...

2009-03-04 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello again,

wow, I don't make idea what, how or why, but that solved my problem:

*mcB.loaderInfo.loader.mouseEnabled = false;*

(I put that on my swf B, the top level swf). That permitted me "disable"
Loader mouseChildren and access my level A.

Any explanation why this happens, would be great...

Thank you!

Hello Glen,

hey, that's it! I didn't know that it was required to do, with simple
textfields created in authortime. Flash could not lost the formatting unless
we specify, don't you think? =)

Thanks so much for you, my question is clear now!

the fonts are embedded. The problem actually isn't the font appears, because
it's. The problem is, seems after I changed the text of an existing
textfield, it formatting is gone.

[Flashcoders] [flash textfield] lose formatting

2009-01-16 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello guru list,

A basic question. A designer setup a fla file, with a lot of textfields.
He'd adjusted font size, spacing, leading, etc. When I'll use his fla, I
have to convert all static fields into dynamic fields, and all looks good.
The question and problem is, when I compile and set a text for those dynamic
textfields, the textfield loses all formatting it had, so, I need to rewrite
via TextFormat. Am I doing something wrong, or isn't possible use timeline
text formatting in runtime?

Thanks so much,

Re: [Flashcoders] Problem with Windows Projector, Fullscreen and Video

2008-12-17 Thread Fabio Pinatti
I had the following problem recently: I was loading a flv for a website
intro, and forcing a change of display state to fullscreen. The video wasn't
loading and the website stops. Since it's a security restriction the force
full screen in latest flash player, I guess that's why it was happening.

 What I did was a kind of splash screen with a button, and user is required
to click to change display state, and all back work again.

Pinatti

Re: [Flashcoders] Arabic flipping

2008-12-04 Thread Fabio Pinatti
I just finished developing an english website, with arabic (
http://www.nakheelharbour.com/).

Actually the arabic isnt ready due the complications I found in my way. I
tried a lot of things... Load xmls with arabic text, load css to align to
right, use system fonts, embedding fonts, etc etc etc. We had feedback from
arabic client, and he said that in all cases, the text seems wrong for him.
In our eastern computers, the text was right, but when they test, the text
changes a lot and is broken, without their ligatures. Honestly, I found a
pain in the ass make it work, dont know if CS4 have support for unicode
chars, and I finished doing a very boring alternative: Putting images or
vectors in arabic version.

Mike, even when you finish your work, make sure someone with arabic OS make
tests of it.

Best,
Fabio

Re: [Flashcoders] singleton returns null

2008-11-24 Thread Fabio Pinatti
I thought it was too (didn't check the existence of _instance), but I was
sure the class was initialized and _instance != null, since it's a document
class, and even after I changed the code, it keeps giving me the error, and
the really weird thing is, it works if I declare a dummy variable, with the
type of class that returns null.. In my example, if I put a private var
_it:SecondClass, the _instance that was null, now returns a valid class
instance.. I'm starting thinking about that it can be a framework thing, and
not the singleton syntax, that is really simple..

Thanks for all, anyway!

Re: [Flashcoders] singleton returns null

2008-11-21 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Sure thing!

In my main document class, I have

class BaseClass {

   public function BaseClass() {

   }

}

I have a second document class, that is loaded inside the first one.

class SecondClass {

   public static var  _instance:SecondClass;

   public function SecondClass() {
 _instance = this;
}

public static function getInstance():SecondClass {
  return _instance;
}

}

and my third document class, that is a movie loaded inside that same
document as above.

class ThirdClass {

   public function ThirdClass() {
 trace (SecondClass.getInstance());
}

}

In Gaia, these 3 classes are respectively Main.as, Nav.as and HomePage.as.
In that sample I wrote, the output is null. If I declare in my base class,
something like private var _it:SecondClass, even I didn't init that var, and
compile the app again, magically, it outputs rightly my class instance. The
weird thing is, for example, If I try the same getInstance() from BaseClass,
for example, it returns correctly too. Im wondering why some classes you can
get instance, and for other, you must declare a var, like my workaround...

Thats weird, no??

Thanks,

Pinatti

Re: [Flashcoders] singleton returns null

2008-11-21 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello,

About the syntax, I meant the second one, actually, declare the _instance
just in constructor, but I just noticed a very weird thing...When I get null
as I was referencing, if I just declare in my main class, a var casting the
type of class that was returning null, it'll work. Seems compiler "see" that
the class exists, and so it returns what I expect. It's really weird, since
the singleton pattern is still the same. If i don't declare this dummy var
with the type I want, even I'm sure the instance exists, it returns null. I
really don't know why this is happening, but it was the workaround I've
found.

About the singleton implementation, I agree with you isn't the best thing to
do, but in my case, I'm using that for 3 document classes, that for sure
I'll use just one single time, so, it's the quickest solution I guess.

And very nice your approach about minimize Singleton use. I'll take a try,
it can save a lot of time.

If you got my problem (i know it's a quite mess to explain), would be great
know why this happens. Maybe it's a Gaia thing that I don't know how to use,
but I was wondering if it was being a stupidity of mine with singleton
concept, since I'm a bit new with oop.

Thanks a lot,
Pinatti

[Flashcoders] singleton returns null

2008-11-21 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello list,

I've been having a question since a time ago... I'm using a flash framework
within my websites (Gaia), and between the classes, I use some singleton
pattern to communicate between them. This way, theorically, I can get any
class instance from another, and I don't need to know the path for each
instantiated class on stage. To clarify, imagine I have a home and a form
page. I could get the reference for home page from form page, just setting
up a static var:

var _home:HomePage = this;

and through a singleton, I could get a HomePage._home, from any point of my
application, right?

The point is, for some classes, that works and returns the class instance.
For other, that doesn't works and returns null, even I'm sure the class is
with the _home var setted up. I posted this question here, because I'm
wondering if this can be some problem (of mine) with Singleton pattern, and
not with framework. Why does Singleton sometimes works, and other times,
doesn't? Did you have some similiar problem getting classes instances, like
me?

Thanks, and sorry if it's a really stupid question.

Kind Regards,

Re: [Flashcoders] Texfield.htmlText + Arial + balise = nothing, keud

2008-11-12 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Try to create a second textfield, invisible, with bold checked. Flash engine
uses it to get embedded fonts, even you don't use it.

I don't know if my workaround is a quite dirty, but it works =)

Re: [Flashcoders] Bitmap distorting during pan

2008-10-30 Thread Fabio Pinatti
I mean use bitmapdata's draw method , with last parameter (smoothing) setted
to true.

mc1 = original image
mc2 = target empty bitmap

mc2.draw(mc1,null,null,null,null,true);

It's just a pseudo-code, but it may works well with dynamic loaded bitmaps.

copy the loaded image content with bitmapdata and smoothing = true to

[Flashcoders] weird bug in flash player 10 - firefox

2008-10-20 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello list,

I just saw a too weird bug, in a website that was working fine in all
browsers and flash player 9...

http://www.nakheelharbour.com

There a lot of rendering errors, like the intro, with the upper and bottom
corner of star in a ugly color and line format.. and inside website, when
changes section, it was supposed to do a alpha between background images,
not that greeny horrible thing that is now..

Did anyone already run this problem with FP 10 ? I tested in two pc's using
firefox, on IE it looks fine..

Thanks,

on complete of it, I want add the loaded bitmap to 10 movieclips. When
I addChild, all movieclips are overrided and just the last one has the
loaded content. With images I can use bitmap data for copying data,
but and if I load swfs or whatever?

I've googled but didn't find any clear, at least for me. Can you help

Great... Guys, you really helped me. I know at least that is not
possible do miracles with flv encoding.

Thanks so much for clarifying me..

Hello,

I'm trying control the timeline where it is embedded. Then, if I play
it goes well.. but if in frame 100, I call a gotoAndPlay(50), for
example, it backs to frame 50, give a small lag, and then plays.

[Flashcoders] flv lagging when changes the frame via code

2008-07-25 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hello all!

I'm doing a kind of navigation application using a flv embedded on
flash. When I use a command to play it, it runs well.. But if I go to
to a specific frame backwards the current frame, it gives a small lag
before plays again... Is it a codec restriction? Any way to avoid that
lag, using only a big flv, like my situation?

Thanks so much,

[Flashcoders] removing all listeners from a dpo

2008-07-18 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hi list,

I'm wondering if I can have a generical function, that I can remove all
listeners registered for an object. Imagine a button with 10 listeners, and
I don`t need know which ones it are to remove. I simply call
"removeListeners(dpo)" and that function does all work.

Is there any way?

Thanks so much,

Theodore, you code is almost right, you forgot only create the object that
will be used as listener.
Before set the onLoadComplete, add a line with:
mclListener = {};

And you'll have your working code.

I suggest you use onLoadInit instead onLoadComplete, because onLoadInit is
dispatched after content was fully loaded and initialized.

Gabino, use this code and you'll be able to get the dimensions of your
loaded movie as soon image is loaded.

Best,

[Flashcoders] [AS3] Framework

2008-06-30 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hi all!

I was using a personal framework in my company projects, and now we're
migrating to AS3, and I think better now use a pre-built than build one from
scratch. I saw Gaia, that looks very good, easy and well documented. Do you
know some framework with these characteristics to indicate?

Thanks in advance for all,

Create an empty movieclip, and add the textfield as it child, and scale the
parent movieclip, not the textfield itself.

Maybe that works.

[Flashcoders] FLV issue

2008-06-13 Thread Fabio Pinatti
Hi all,

I'm getting a error that is drving me crazy. I'm using as2+flv playback in a
project, and my video has 4 seconds length. when I put this value as buffer
time in component, it pre-buffers the video, but when it plays, it goes very
quiclky to the end, when the expected would be the video play normally in it
framerate, after buffered...

I don't know if that can be a encoding issue, a flash player issue, or a
issue of mine...

Can anyone give me some tips, please?

Thanks in advance.

You can append htmlText with tags, like a regular html. So, you
can have what you want in your textfield.

Firefox 2.0.0.14, loads fine, except for the beginning of application, that
shows a quick screen with some content, and disappears quickly, to a black
screen until the full loading.. maybe a main preloader fixes your problem.

Cheers!
