RE: [flexcoders] Adobe aquires Macromedia
SWG will obviously move aside for SWFwhat it means for Flex - who knowsbest to wait and see - but for me this is the 3rd company that say CF is been with - Flex is young and from experience, moving from company to company with apps like these can mean a no longer supported issue... Not saying that it will happen to Flex - but with this 2merger no application is safe from the Obsolete Product range -Original Message- From: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dirk Eismann Sent: 18 April 2005 10:24 To: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com Subject: RE: [flexcoders] Adobe aquires Macromedia After reading and browsing Adobe's site (the first time ever in my life actually :) I understand they've got some big size server solutions in their product portfolio - I hope Flex fits in there. Surely the fact the price is going up means that it is not selling well (and possibly the whole RIA scene is not as widespread as you are led to believe). RE: [flexcoders] OT: Relation between CFMX7 and Flex
Yep, CFMX 7 Provides a very limited version of Flex 1.5. It does some basics but for advanced developments in MXML etc you will need Full Blown Flex. N -Original Message- From: Michael van Leest [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 08 February 2005 10:43 To: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [flexcoders] OT: Relation between CFMX7 and Flex Hi Dirk, Coldfusion MX 7 only supports Flash Forms, and Flash (cfform name=testform type=flash/cfform)! This is just to help Coldfusion developers construct complex forms in a easy way. It's pretty nice, but what I really miss is a feature to use remoting with these forms. You can't use Flash remoting with the flash forms. Coldfusion generates a swf and by remoting put's in al the provided data (Remoting that the developer can't use :-( ) It's a good enhancement, but just a little bit too simple for the real complex forms. For that you need Flash (or Flex). The charting part works just the same way as the flash forms, only CFMX puts in a different swf template. If you have any questions about CFMX 7 just mail me offlist and I'll be happy to help you with anything Michael van Leest Dirk Eismann wrote: Hi, as you may now, ColdFusion MX 7 (Blackstone) has just been released: http://www.macromedia.com/software/coldfusion/ now after looking at the new features that CFMX 7 brings, I wonder how the Flash based features do relate to Flex. It seems obvious that the new charting and form features are based on Flex 1.5 - thus, CFMX 7 comes with some kind of Flex under the hood. Is it a stripped down version that just does the rendering or does it also provide the gateway infrastructure? BTW: Does CFMX 7 provide a new Remoting gateway and if so is it the same as in the standard Flex 1.5 product? The CFMX 7 product page is somewhat vague on the Flash features or its underlying engine, so maybe someone with some Blackstone experience could shed some light on this? Thanks, Dirk. Yahoo! We were a little bit over zealous with our goal to be completely finished by today--however, the majority of the sections have been completed with the Sample section and Articles section to be completed by February 5th. We are very pleased with the response we have received so far! Because of the large number of questions we recieved about Flex we are dedicating our Articles section to a FAQ this month. If you have any questions you would like to have answered or included, please submit them to [EMAIL PROTECTED]. For March, we will begin posting articles. Please continue to submit your articles for publication to [EMAIL PROTECTED]. As always, being a developer myself, I am thrilled to have the forums live! Please take a minute to answer some posts and post your own questions or comments this week.
