I'm adding support for this amp to DDUtil and am curious how many ACOM users
we have and what accessories.
Accessories:
A2000S/SW 10 position antenna switch
Remote-On adapter
Also, let me know if you would be interested in being a beta tester for this
feature.

Hi Bob,
Back in my working days we used CORBA a bunch.
Now the guys tell me they use the latest version of HTML to do what CORBA tried
to do. Don't know the details but do know they are wildly successful!
Best regards,

The point I'm trying to make is that by simply opening the form you can do
great
damage to the radio and your linear amplifier.
Also, take a look at the Flex
5000 Owner's Manual, page 124. The 'Gain By Band' form has been there in all
versions of the PowerSDR for the 5K.

Since the software knows what type of radio it is talking to, it should be a
simple matter to inhibit access to the form unless the radio is an SDR-1000.
You should enter this as a feature request.

Bob,
I just placed my order with Newegg, this looks like a fun little
project. I assume with only one slot, which is needed for the firewire
card, that dual monitors is not possible???
Where can I find glxgears??? Is it freeware???

Santa brought me the pieces parts for a new computer and I have successfully
assembled it, Flex 5000A runs great on it at 10 to 15% CPU useage @192 range
But: horrific noise peaks at 100 khz intervals, This is most pronounced on the

Merry Christmas Art!
The two areas I would concentrate on are the video hookup and the power supply.
How many toroids do you have on the cable going from the video card to
the monitor? Try changing the refresh frequency on your display and
see if the behavior changes. You can do this by
One other thing that can cause this is a crappy Firewire host controller.
Especially if it the one on the motherboard.
If Neal's excellent suggestions do not remedy the problem and you are using the
motherboard Firewire host controller, try using one that connects to the
PCI/PCI-E bus.
Art,
Specifically, what brand of power supply is installed? I only allow Antec
PC Power Supplies in this house, as they seem to have excellent EMI/RFI
suppression.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried changing the refresh rate, resolution, etc

Try some
If you take a look at the number of wires coming OUT of that power supply,
you will see they go to various places INSIDE the computer.
First thing I do to a new machine, put torroids around each of the various
bundles.
Those going to the moboard, and those going to all the drives and other
Probably a stupid question, but I didn't see it being posed in a quick
search of the FAQ and reflector archives. Are there any issues/concerns
moving the 5K between different computers (aside from the standard setup
requirements)? I would like to use my 5K occasionally on my laptop instead
Put toroids on the power leads going to the motherboard (the big 24
pin monster will probably take the split ones and the second one is
usually 4,6 or 8 pin. Except for the 8 pin you can usually wrap them
thru a toroid, for the 8 pin, you likely will need a snap-on.
On grounding the computer,
No problem here. I use mine with both a dedicated PC, and my laptop.

I have seen less noise from routers than the crappy wall-warts they
come with. You might want to check if by any chance you have plugged a
new wall-wart with the install.

Robert,
There is one potential problem with laptops. Some of them have relatively
poor Firewire controllers. My Dell XPS M1730 has a decent one, but when I
used a long firewire cable (3 meters) I had some instability. When I added a
Belkin Expresscard Firewire controller it calmed down
