I found it, operative word is dumb here too; bad IP address. Was trying
to send the packet to the cockpit displays, my bad.

Running the image warping software for three projectors kills the frame
rate. Down to 15fps :-(

Need new graphics cards amd will upgrade to a quad-core machine. In the
meantime going to offload some of the number crunching for one of the
projectors to a slave to shoot the videos for the UCD presentation. This
should get it back to a respectable 20-25 fps.

If time permits, will port FG-2.2 to the new machine and graphics cards,
but first want to have something presentable ready to go.

With the quad core will run one master and two slaves and use the
127.0.0.1 internal address and that leaves one for the instructor
workstation. Another option would be to go to shared memory, but that is
a bit more envolved handling mutex read/write operations. Maybe later...

Hi Jack,

If you want to rule out the sort of dumb stuff that I do here, try taxiing a
short bit. Do the slave views follow at the wrong altitude? Or is it
possible there's a comms problem and the slaves aren't getting updated at
all (so they start half submerged.) I'm pretty sure the net-fdm protocol
passes the correct absolute altitude so you don't have to worry
about instrumentation differences (unless you are trying to display another
altimeter on the slave ... then you need to make sure the atmospheric
conditions are setup to match on both systems.)

[Flightgear-devel] altimeter problem

2011-01-27 Thread castle
Hi,

When running a slave and master configuration noticed a problem with the
indicated altimeter. FG version is 2.0.

Sitting on runway at KSFO master properties show

Contents of "/instrumentation/altimeter"
indicated-altitude-ft (16.21034188)
mode-c-alt-ft (0)
pressure-alt-ft (17.40378625)
serviceable (true)
setting-inhg (29.92)

while the slave properties are

Contents of "/instrumentation/altimeter"
indicated-altitude-ft (-0.3222003762)
mode-c-alt-ft (0)
pressure-alt-ft (0.8712439941)
serviceable (true)
setting-inhg (29.92)

The slave OTW scene is at runway level, bummer!

It looks like the FDM data packet (net-fdm.hxx) has a slot for altitude as in

double altitude; // above sea level (meters)

defined in the Network directory but JSBSim (or does it happen over on the
FG side ) is not setting the value or it is being overwritten somehow.

Any ideas where to troubleshoot this bad boy?

Jack

I am now running the shiny new 11.1 fglrx driver on my integrated HD4200.
The 737-100 has some silly landing lights, but other than that, it looks normal.

Ok, I just added a merge request to the repo Heiko pointed
out...hopefully I got everything right. I made a couple more
adjustments over the patch I posted previously...cleaned up the nasal
a tad and fixed the gear animations to match to the new behavior. Good
luck with the move and let me know if there are any questions or
problems!

No Vivian,

polygon curvature of the FlightGear world".
Not knowing if there was something in place to maintain sync with
vertical change, I commented that that would be a great idea if possible.

hi, here's a diff to have the mp carrier follow the sea level , if you
find something usefull in it.
I didn't test it recently against the "tsunami" crossing the sea, but
was working months ago.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Terrasync

2011-01-27 Thread J. Holden
Just to comment on this recent thread, most of my scenery work is not in
TerraSync nor complied - the areas I know of are the Caribbean between Anguilla
and Nevis, all of Hawai'i but Ni'ihau, and I believe Oakland Int'l Airport.

I have available a finished London landclass and a finished
Baltimore/Washington, DC landclass available on my website at
http://www.stattosoftware.com/flightgear - they should be part of the next
release.

The Pacific Northwest, Rio de Janeiro, parts of Hong Kong, Phoenix, Shoreham,
Madrid, Toronto (harbor), and New England are on the mapserver, but have not
been compiled.

Southern New York has been sent in and is waiting to be added to the mapserver.
New Hampshire is waiting to be cleaned, which I will probably start tonight.

Switzerland land cover is almost done but does not include Sion - it is
basically the northwestern half of the country. I have hand-created scenery for
Sion which I have been working on for the past few years, but the terrain is so
difficult the Vancouver, Canada project I started last week already has almost
as many polygons.

Hope this helps,

Cheers

Erik,

Thanks for repairing that link in the model file in the OV10_USAFE.
While it runs as many use it, the folder needs to be cleaned up. Mr. Perry was
correct in an Effects file was removed/missing/etc, and obviously a path was
still lingering.

If I get a chance I'll try to sort through it all and lighten it up.

Only after new Terrain has been built from the respective sources and
uploaded to the repository beind TerraSync.
We've already done this for a few places in the world, but these are
just isolated samples (the popular Caribbean islands - try TFFJ from
TerraSync, Sylt, the KOSH area maybe I forgot one or two). I
tried to insert a few more places but didn't manage to get the tile
boundaries' elevations to match the surrounding 'stock' 1.0.1 Terrain.

According to this statement

on the swiss www.flugsimulation.ch it will be payware, so not free anymore. The

This is what their website (verbatim) says:

"... SIRX2009, as impassable dipositions of the Ministry of Environment, can
never be a work (for the sake of profit)for profit, but will be made
available free to everyone who had need (through specific requests to the

so it looks like it cannot be GPL.

However it looks fabulous.

Wrong statement in the forum. TerraSync only updates the models, not the
terrain. So now Corinne data yet. Statto aka John Holden is working on the
landclasses for switzerland using Corinne, but his work still needs some while.

>Impossible in git...once i got terrain but since only water. did try >anything

Are you using FGRun? Make sure your select terrasync-folder in the first row
and the directory selected is "1".
You need a while to wait until it is downloaded, then you have to refresh your
airport list.

>Will it be possible one day to use:

I don't think so. My latest information says that SIRX will be releases as
payware.
And even this woulden't be a problem someone has to do the work and create that
scenery. This is currently much more difficult than you think.
I wonder if the "someone" is you.

..and, you are able to hire a Vatsim programmer to do the
job for you, you then own the work because you hired someone
to do it for you, therefore you can license your end product
any darn way you please. Now, if you hired man signs that
NDA after you hire him, chances are you will be bound by
that NDA because the reasonable assumption will suggest he
did it on your behalf to do the job you hired him to do.

..now, if you can find somebody who has already signed
Vatsim's NDA, you are then able to hire them to do the
job _without_ disclosing any Vatsim IP to you, it's all
in how you, or your lawyer ;o) defines the job.

The Bronco has been updated last week and should work properly (I tested

The Fokker50-Denim file seems to be outdated and superseded by the

While it's a valid point I don't see it being as big as a problems as
you seem to do. First of all the former situation wasn't ideal either
and secondly you could put out a git merge request for the particular
changes.

Projects like OpenEagles seems to handle this well and so can FlightGear
I believe.
