Irregular start of text in table

2002-02-27 Thread Nick Winger

hi !

as you can see on the screenshot, that is attached, i have a table with 4
columns and a few rows
with text data.

in row 3 and 4, fop doesn't start or align the text as in the other rows.
only the text in the first column which is different, because it uses
text-align=center in the fo:block,
has the same align in every row.

is this a bug or something ? or is this because of acrobat reader ?

beside i use a user font: arial.ttf

here's the code how the table cell with the 1s look like:

fo:table-cell border-left-style=none border-right-style=none
border-top-style=none border-bottom-style=none border-width=0.1mm
border-style=solid padding-top=3pt padding-before=3pt
padding-start=3pt padding-end=3pt padding-after=3pt

fo:block font-family=Arial font-size=8pt text-align=end1/fo:block

/fo:table-cell

i think this is a bug

2002-02-20 Thread Nick Winger

Hi !

i think this is a bug (following problem ):

I have the text Transport Inkubator 5400 in a table cell, but the table
cell is to small to display
the whole text, so it wraps, but it doesn't wrap correctly...
the text 5400 is in the next line, but the r of Inkubator goes into
the next cell !!!of the table row!!!
that looks not right.

here's the code:

fo:table-cell border-width=0.1mm border-style=solid
padding-before=15pt padding-start=2pt padding-end=3pt
padding-after=3pt
fo:block wrap-option=wrap font-family=Helvetica font-size=13pt
font-weight=bold
Transport Inkubator 5400
/fo:block
/fo:table-cell

if anybody knows an answer, please let me know.

there's also a screenshot i mailed, you can see, how the text exceeds the
table-cell...

Hi Nick,
Normally the text wraps by default. Are you using the latest
maintenance version (0.20.3)? What are your column widths? Could you
send your whole fo:table code?

driver problem - finding source file

2002-02-19 Thread Nick Winger

hi !

i have the following java code to generate a pdf file:

Options options = new Options();
options.loadUserconfiguration(userconfig.xml);

Driver driver = new Driver( new InputSource( d:\\projects\\FOPTest.fo ),
new FileOutputStream( d:\\projects\\FOPTest.pdf ) );
driver.setRenderer( Driver.RENDER_PDF );
driver.run();

it's for sure, that the FOPTest.fo file is in the folder projects, but FOP
says file not found exception.

when i have the fo-file in the same folder as the executable class ( like
this:
Driver driver = new Driver( new InputSource( FOPTest.fo ),new
FileOutputStream( FOPTest.pdf ) ); )

it works.
but when i have the source fo file in a different order i get that
exception.

anybody know why addressing the fo-file doesn't work ?

how does the embbeded font thing work ?

2002-02-19 Thread Nick Winger

hi !

i have an embbeded user font...
in my application i use arial ( own user font) and everythins works...

question 1: from where does acrobat reader get the font ? is it embbeded in
the pdf file or what ?

second:
i have a servlet and when i generate the pdf out of that servlet the pdf is
much more smaller than the one
generated in the application.

one reason could be, that the userconfig.xml is not loaded...( where does
fop look when i just say:
  Options options = new Options();
 options.loadUserconfiguration(userconfig.xml);
) ?

i my application i have the fonts, xmls and userconfig.xml in the same
directory where the application is.

in the servlet i have these files in the root directory of the server, but
somehow fop makes a smaller pdf file and
when i start acrobat reader it says that a font for a substitude font is
missing.
the font arial, bold can not be found...
so where do i have to put the truetype fonts ?

hi !

i have defined my own font ( arial ):

i made an xml file for the font like this (in the root directory of fop):

org.apache.fop.fonts.apps.TTFReader d:\winnt\fonts\arial.ttf ttfarial.xml

now i wrote that in the userconfig.xml file:

fonts
 font metrics-file=ttfarial.xml kerning=yes embed-file=arial.ttf
font-triplet name=Arial style=normal weight=normal/
font-triplet name=ArialMT style=normal weight=normal/
 /font
/fonts

when i compile my fo-file to pdf ( in it using the font-family=arial )
everything works fine, no errors,
but when i open the pdf file in acrobat reader i get an error message like
this ( i have to translate it from german to english):

while processing the site there was an error. a font has a wrong value for
CMap/Encoding.

anybody knows why this error appears in acrobat reader ?

is it possible to manually draw lines in a table ?

2002-02-07 Thread Nick Winger

hi !

is it possible to manually draw lines in a table or on a page ?

or something like that, because i have to following problem:

i have text rows in a table that end before the table ends,
so the table is larger. i have to columns separated by the borders of the
cells ( lines ) but the don't go through the whole table, they end
with the text rows, but i would need them going to end.
now i can't make blank text rows and cells, because i don't know
when the page ends. if there would be to many text rows
then a next page would be drawn with no context...

thanks for help

on xml.apache.org the say not to forget to start fop like this (when using
new fonts, to load the configuration file):
-c conf/userconfig.xml

how does this work in java ?

something with calling the ConfigurationReader ?
and somehow pass it to the driver ?

AW: static table-footer height ?

2002-02-04 Thread Nick Winger

i could do that...
it would work with the footer too,

but

i tried it, and the region-body overlaps the region-after.
i made the region-after extent=10cm and the region-body extent=15cm.
but the region-body is bigger than 15cm, i don't know why...

any suggestions how to get the region-body not to overlap the other
regions ( in this case region-after) ?

Hi Nick,

I have a little dirty workaround for this:
-declare a page sequence that will contain your big
(ie multipage) table.

-put your table head in a static flow

-put the real table content xsl-body flow

Hope this helps.
Fred.

i have text in the table-body, and images in the
 table-footer, now sometimes
 there is less text
and sometimes there is a smaller image, but i want
 the height of the table
 footer always at
half of the table, because there are many pages, and
 the should look the
 same ( have the same
break for the image in the table-footer)
so i would need a static table-footer height...

 is that possible ?

maybe you want to give your java application more memory (allocation)
there is and code for that, but it slipped my mind, check the JDK1.3.1 for
that

and table-omit-footer-at-break=true might help...
make sure you have a fo:table-footer in your fo:table

think this might help...

AW: AW: out of memory exception in java ?

2002-01-29 Thread Nick Winger

thank you !

that kinda works...

the footer is displayed is every page, but it overrides the text in the
table...
that means, the table doesn't stop at the region-after section...
can i set the table height per page ? or something like that...
so it stops before the region-after-sequence ?

other question:
what is a page-sequence ?
can i have multiple page-sequences in one pdf file (fo-file)
because let's say i have 3 tables in one pdf file fo-file)
and every page where there is a different table should have
a different static-content flow-name=xsl-region-after
( every table a different footer... )

if you just want a footer @ each end of a page use this code: i don't know
the external graphics works with footnote, but it should (inside your
block)

fo:static-content flow-name=xsl-region-after
   fo:block
 fo:footnote
   fo:inline
 fo:block font-size=10pt font-family=Arialn

 fo:block font-size=10pt font-family=Arialn
line-height=14pt

I don't think that FOP can do this. Would you get what you wanted if
you put the image in a footer. I doubt that counting the rows is the
way to go.

2. is it possible to have two different font-sizes in one column of a

Yes.

3. can i turn the bottom cell line (border) of a cell off ?

I don't know.

There is no problem using 'ü' or 'ß' or something. You must check the header
of
the xml-file:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=ISO-8859-1?

The encoding specifies what characters you may use. If you use the header
above,
you can use 'ü', etc. without unicode or something!

For nbsp; (non-breaking space in HTML) you can use #160;.

The reference to all classes can be found in the JavaDoc of FOP, that can be

found in:
 fop-dir/javadocs
