Tough one.
Aggregating I think would open up all kinds of issues... Lets say we treat each page as a separate image to be imported. If each page is treated as an external graphic to be imported, could we not add as many areas as there are pages

It's great that things aren't all there yet. It provides lots of information
for working out the next version! I guess we new people sort of forget how
new this all is, and expect it to do everything all from the start. But I'm
sure that each new revision will pick up on some of the things the user

No. Well, unless you are willing to produce a few major hacks.
Is this possible? If not, is this a limitation of xsl:fo and/or SVG

No. You'll have to produce a separate file for each page and include
them individually.
How do you think should multi-page TIFF files be handled? Should
the pages be aggregated, and in which way, should breaks allow

XML uses Unicode. Code charts are available online, you can

Hi,
I want to embed an external SVG graphic in my fop document. This graphic
shall at some place contain the current page number of the document.
Is this possible? If not, is this a limitation of xsl:fo and/or SVG in

Hi all,
I am encountering the similar problem with you for generating Traditional Chinese pdf.
I have generated the font metrics file from window mingliu.ttc font file. However, still many words from Supplementary Character Set (http://www.microsoft.com/hk/hkscs/default.asp) are missed. Moreover,
Hi Victor,
Thank you very much for reply! But I still have some questions:
1) Do you imply that adding the metrics xml files generated from Adobe Asian Font Pack or the 6.0 Reader(without embedding the font file e.g. TTF file) doesn't raise license problem?
2) Do you where we can find the spec

Title: Image embedding question(s)
Hello all:
Enviro:
Version - fop-0.20.5rc3a
O/S - Win2K
I am trying to insert mixed content into my results from a FOP rendering. I am rendering to both PDF and PS. I have done some preliminary tests with the guidance of the docs, and some earlier posts.
Hi,
To generate PDF correctly in Asian languages (Simplified
Chinese,Traditional Chinese, Japanese,Korean), we have two choices:
1) Embedding the font in PDF.
2) Without embedding, using the asian language fonts provided by
Adobe Acrobat Reader's Asian Font Packs

This is the address where the glyph is located in the pdf-fonts
'ZapfDingbats' and has nothing to do with your System Fonts (WingDings...)
and the Windows encoding Table.
The Character Map can be used for locating characters inside system fonts
(like TrueType Font inside your Windows-Font folder).
Correct, this view is also possible through the office-programs like word,
ppt etc. but can you explain to me, where the value 274F (see further below)

Hi,
First, #x means character code in hexadecimal, correct.
Second, using Windows' "charmap.exe" you can browse your fonts.
In Wingdings the characters 0x70 and 0x78 show an unchecked / checked checkbox.

Hello!
I've never before embedded special symbols in fo. Why do you write "#x"?
Does the x mean hexadecimal? I'm wondering because I've tried to find the
symbol by looking for a symbol from ZapfDingbats with 274F (hex) in my
window-system, but couldn't find it. Can you give more support, please? :
Hello all
I am using FOP to create encrypted documents out of a servlet - this works
quite nicely. I have a few questions
1. Why does the documentation direct us to use
security.provider.6=org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider
rather than any of the other security providers ? Perhap
