AW: AcroReader Can't search PDF with embedded font.

2003-10-01 Thread Sam Prokop
Hi,

I didn´t follow the whole thread, but i use true type fonts, and i used the
-ansi option, when i did the metrics, for the fonts.(I needed to do that,
because of acrobatreader 3 on os2)

I can search in my pdfs with acrobat 6. The Fonts are embedded and have the
original names.

I use fop 0.20.5

0.20.4 -> 0.20.5

2003-07-31 Thread Sam Prokop
Title: 0.20.4 -> 0.20.5

Hi Fop-User,

We are trying to update our servlet on tomcat to fop 0.20.5, but we are getting the following error:

Error fo transform: javax.xml.transform.TransformerConfigurationException: javax.xml.transform.TransformerConfigurationException: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: A node test that matches either NCName:* or QName was expected.

The Stylesheets are working fine with the old 0.20.4 version and with command line fop 0.20.5.

Thanks in advance

Some Guys from RenderX have written an XSL, which does just that.

we need this because some guys are using os2-boxes, they have no newer version

AW: Problem with SVG only Black & White

2002-05-16 Thread Sam Prokop
Thanx for your suggestions,
we had some gradiants in the svg, which were displayed in just black.
and it seems, that fop ignores the style given by the svg-tag.
where there are attributes like
fill-opacity
color-interpolation
color-rendering
etc.
and maybe these things make the svg look nice in batik and the
adobe-viewer.
because in the svg the fill attribute had only none, black and gray as
values.
here is the svg tag we´re using...
http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"; style="fill-opacity:1;
color-interpolation:auto; color-rendering:auto; text-rendering:auto;
stroke:black; stroke-linecap:square; stroke-miterlimit:10;
stroke-opacity:1; shape-rendering:auto; fill:red; stroke-dasharray:none;
font-weight:normal; stroke-width:1; font-family:'sansserif';
font-style:normal; stroke-linejoin:miter; font-size:12;
image-rendering:auto; stroke-dashoffset:0;"
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg";>

after all, it seems i have to go deeper into this svg stuff.

cheers

Hi all!

don´t know if this is of topic, but i´ve got svg graphics embedded in fo

on the one hand i use this to rotate the text on the other to insert

the problem is that the fonds i use in the svg aren´t displayed with

the question can this be done and, if yes, how?

i
think this is because jimi.jar isn´t part of fop 0.20.3 anymore. but maybe you
can compile fop 0.20.3 with jimi.jar in the classpath.

  Hy,
  I'm very surprised because the tiff illustrations
  were support on fop 0.20.2
  but seam not to be on the fop 0.20.3
  !
  Is there anything that can enable fop 0.20.3 to
  support tiff ?

AW: Error compiling fop - CodePointMapping.java is empty

2002-03-22 Thread Sam Prokop
i want to build it with jimi-1.0.jar to get support of png.
jimi-1.0.jar isn´t part of fop since 0.20.3. so pngs are not supported.
just copying the jar into fop/lib, doesn´t solve the problem, so
Jeremias Märki told me it would be better to compile.

2002-03-22 Thread Sam Prokop
OK, thanks for the input, but i deleted the whole thing and unziped into
a "fresh" folder.
I also took all CLASSPATHs out of my global(?) Classpath
(de->Umgebungsvariablen Win2k)
and just added the jimi-1.0.jar to the lib folder.
I start the original build.bat and now i get the following error:

where does this "Path-doubling" come from,
file:///C:/fop/src/fop-0.20.3/C:/fop/src/fop-0.20.3/build/src/codegen/en
codings.xml
i checked the build.xml, it looks all right to me,
the "property name="encodings.xml""-stuff looks exactly as the stuff
before.
there must happen something strange to the ${build.codegen}
Path-variable, so maybe i use the wrong xsl-processor,
but that is xalan2, that comes with the whole package.

any ideas? I mean if this should work with xalan2 maybe it is because of
java 1.4.0?

anyway, this is just because i want to use png (jimi.jar), so i think
its ok for me to use jpeg or a workaround with svg.

AW: SV: PNG Images

2002-03-19 Thread Sam Prokop
I get an error creating FopImage object (file:to/image.png):
org.apache.fop.image.JimiImage

I use fop 0.20.3 "standalone" (on win2k and java 1.4.0), with the old
jimi-1.0.jar, which came with an older version of fop.

and got no idea, what to do, except using jpeg instead.

0.20.3 without jimi -> without png?

2002-03-12 Thread Sam Prokop
Hi All,

I get the following error, when i want to use a png:
"Error creating FopImage object (path:to.image.png):
org.apache.fop.image.JimiImage"

I use the fo:external-graphic-tag.

So if jimi isn´t part of fop anymore, how can i use png now?

besides, i tried it with just using the old Jimi.jar in my classpath,
too.

any idea welcom, thanx in anticipation

you can use keep-with-next and previous within the table-row tag, this
works fine, as long as the table fits into one page.

depending on the version of fop, it could mean, that some elements don´t
fit on the page properly, but your output seems to look ok.

AW: Keeping it together

2002-02-19 Thread Sam Prokop
I think, this should work with table-rows, if you use keep-with-next and
keep-with-previous, but if the table exceeds the page you may get an
infinite-loop. however, i tried this in version >0.20.1, and it worked
but i only got some small tables.

What is the best Parser to use with FOP?

2002-02-11 Thread Sam Prokop
Hi all!

what do you think is the best parser to use with fop? xerces is not the
fastest one.
maybe there is a parser, that is written in c? I´ve heard they have
better performance, but can i use them with fop?

AW: keep-with-next?

2002-01-30 Thread Sam Prokop
I found out it just works with table-rows, if you use keep-with-next and
keep-with-previous.
and you have to take care, that the table doesn´t exceeds the page,
otherwise you´ll get a infinite-loop.

that´s all i found out :-(

embedding fop in php

2002-01-17 Thread Sam Prokop
Hi,
i am trying to embed fop in php.

i ´ve got an example:
fo2pdf.php,v 1.2 2001/11/20 17:28:47
by Christian Stocker <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

but it is using CommandLine, and i am using fop 0.20.2, and since 0.19
there is no class CommandLine anymore (correct me, if i´m wrong)

  function run($fo, $pdf = "", $DelFo = False)
{
if (!$pdf)
$pdf = tempnam($this->tmpdir, $this->tmppdfprefix);

$this->pdf = $pdf;
$this->fo = $fo;
$options = array($this->fo, $this->pdf);
$java = new Java("org.apache.fop.apps.CommandLine", $options);
$java->run();
if ($DelFo) {
$this->deleteFo($fo);
}
}

so what i need, is a how to, for an absolute java-beginner, to embed fop
in php.
(i heard this should be faster than command line)

thanx in anticipation

But there is still the standard font in my pdf.

i´m using fop 0.20.2.

Columns

2001-10-04 Thread Sam Prokop
Hi folks,

I´ve got the following Problem, i want to create a page, that has a
different number of columns, for example it starts with 2 columns than
only one and than 4.
But i can only define columns in "region-body" and there can be only one
region-body in a simple-page-master.
I don´t want to give an absolute value for the height of the
multicolumn-block.

So is there another way to do multicolumns?

thanx in anticipation
