You can use any private namespace URI for private elements and attributes. Just make sure you don't use the FO namespace. However, in both cases FOP will complain on the log but continue without problem. In FOP Trunk (i.e. after FOP 0.92beta) I've added a possibility to the FopFactory to add a set
