I installed it a few weeks ago - couldn't find any info about it that
looked shocking - and (knock on wood) all seems to be going well.

Thanks for the link. It lead me to figuring out how to fix it without
hacking the Registry. Namely:
1) Click Start Search For Files or Folders...
2) Click the Indexing Service hyperlink in the left pane.
3) Click the Advanced button on the newly-displayed Indexing Service
Settings dialog.

See http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/333103.html for a list of
issues/bugs fixed by this update.
In some cases, the Acrobat updates overwrite the prologue.ps/epilogue.ps

In your xref code you can add references to tags.
For example, in a blank FM file you can:
1. select Special Cross Ref
2. Click Edit Format
3. If required, select Heading Page under Formats
Now review the Definition:
\`$paratext\' on page\ $pagenum
You can change it to this:

You need to distinguish the different numbering styles using Series Labels.
For example, a Numbered format is: S:n+., which results in 1.,
Except for the font family, superscript, and subscript properties,
FrameMaker does not replicate any character formatting from the target
of the cross-reference. This is especially problematic when _part_ of a
target has a character format applied, as in your case.
Any work-arounds for this

Is there a way to apply a character format to the text of a
cross-reference? I've created a cross-reference to a specific heading
paragraph format, but part of each of these headings has a character
format applied. Of course, the character format doesn't carry over to
the cross-reference.
