Framemaker's ability to import WordPerfect and PageMaker files

I wonder if any Framies can help me? Framemaker is supposed to import WordPerfect files. It does so, but only 5.1 files. While on the subject of importing files, I have certainly not had much luck importing any Pagemaker files despite the heavily advertised feature of the latest release.

PDF is mostly a one-way street. It's an end product. The text in a PDF is set line by line and page by page. Any method of converting PDF back to formatted text and graphics is going to involve a good deal of work and judgment. PDFs are complex enough and generated from enough different source
