If you are using transparency in Illustrator, I would save your graphics out
as either EPS or PDF 1.3 for FrameMaker.
EPS and PDF 1.3 do not support transparency, so the art will be flattened.
As long as you use the default settings, it will include the original AI
file, so you can open the file

I had a power failure last night and my PC shut down (FM 7.1 Win XP).
When I restarted, my book was locked as were all of the component files. I
chose to reset the lock on all of them, except for one, which I must have
fat fingered when presented the option.
Now every time I update my book,
Attempted to download something is kinda vague. Are you sure it was
looking in the wrong place for the file?
It sounds as if the program may have been either checking for updates
or verifying its activation, which it might do either automatically or
on a time schedule.

I created a hypertext marker from the command Go to URL in FrameMaker 7.2
p158 and created a PDF using Acrobat 8.1.1. When I click on the active area in
the PDF in Acrobat 8.1.1, it went to the URL I selected. When I tried to click
on the Active area with the PDF in Acrobat 7.0.9, Acrobat
Depending on the quality of your HTML, this could be fairly simple to
do using Perl.

have been a handful of manual edits to the HTML, but the quality should be

You can use Mif2Go to convert HTML to mif. You can also use a tool called
gregor. Do a google and you should find that it works well. I've converted HTML
to .txt and then to .mif manually. Try that too.
