Turning off sync worked. No errors, no tmp files, and the files open
correctly on all the Dropbox nodes.

As far as I know, there's no way to make a master-page (i.e.,
implicitly background) image overlay body page (framed) graphics or

That makes me suspect that you had a bad character encoding which,
nevertheless, would render in the FM editing view, but 'fall down'

If you still have a copy of the 'bad' URL, try to paste it into
Notepad++ and see if it goes weird (looking like, for example,

That was a very expensive system, right? Sometimes you get what you pay for.

using FrameLink middleware. It worked like a champ although a couple of our
more chronologically senior writers never did manage to wrap their minds around
the check-out and versioning paradigms.

I have had similar issues with Google Drive (files deleted from a book
during updating) and I am pretty sure that syncing is the root of the
problem. Turning off syncing while actively working on the book is a good

Has any integrated client in FrameMaker ever worked well?
I'd skip the FM integration, pause sync in Dropbox while working on an
FM project in a sync'd folder, and turn sync back on afterwards.

I have a solution for FrameMaker's Dropbox compatibility issues, but I'm

I've been curious about what's different "under the hood" in
FrameMaker's Dropbox support. I see this sort of error regularly from
clients who use Dropbox as a file system. FrameMaker generally doesn't
