Well why the devil should the PDF generation fail if you select RGB mode?
And what if you *want* it to be in RGB mode? (as you quite legitimately
might do

that has limited portability.

Matt,
RGB-CMYK was the culprit! I just tested with CMYK
checked in the PDF settings, and the file
rendered correctly. I switched that back to RGB
and it failed.
