to the next row and gets stuck to the left instead of being tabbed to the
right. I have known this for long but are insterested in any solution. To make

RE: Backgrading Frame 12 to Frame 8 - Unicode issue

2014-09-17 Thread Jeff Coatsworth
Is there an old substitute being used for the Aboriginal languages back in FM8?
If so, maybe you could hack the MIF to sub in the old font name in place of the
newer Unicode one?

Hello all -

Working with Frame 12, I have to deliver some files to a Frame 8 user. The
only option in Frame 12 is to save to version 7 *.mif. That would work if I
weren't using Unicode fonts (for Canadian Aboriginal languages). As one would
expect, when I open the v.7 miffed files in Frame 8, the diacritics have
morphed into question marks. Not good. Suggestions would be welcome.

Cheers,
Mike

TopicAlias Restrictions

2014-09-17 Thread David Millis
Hello Framers. I'm starting a new, and large, project using Frame 7.2. I will
be using WebWorks to generate a CHM file once the manual has been completed. It
looks like there will be MANY topic IDs used in this project and I'm thinking
of using Topic IDs that are alphanumeric. I've used strictly numeric Topic IDs
in the past.

My questions are:
1) Can I use a combination of letters and numbers in my Topic IDs?
2) Is there a length limitation in Frame 7.2 for Topic IDs? I'm thinking of
using 8-10 characters, 12 at the very most.

Thank you in advance for input.

David Millis

According to WebWorks' online help:

*Must be unique
*Must begin with an alphabetical character
*May contain alphanumeric characters
*May not contain special characters or spaces, with the exception of
underscores (_)

On your reference page for the TOC, where you now have one tab character
before the page number, insert several more. The extras will be ignored
if the content fits on one line, but will be used if the content wraps
to a second or third line.

Tab stop does not work in TOC

2014-09-17 Thread Carole McCormick
I have fixed this issue in the TOC using the settings in the Paragraph
Designer Advanced tab. In the Word Spacing group box, change the Minimum
percentage to 175%, Maximum percentage to 325%. You may need to adjust the
settings – for example, in one book, I changed the Minimum percentage to
275%. Apply the changes and regenerate your TOC. (BTW – I’m using
FrameMaker 11, but this trick worked in prior version that I’ve used.)
