FrameScript menu disappearing
Hi all, I'm running FM9 on Vista 64. I downloaded WebWorks yesterday to perform some tests regarding an FM - Confluence migration. Now, my FrameScript menu has disappeared and only Snag-It, Pubs-Tools (for the BookVars plugin), Tools (for Paragraph and Character Tools) and WebWorks menus are displayed. How can I easily manage such menus, for example to have the Snag-It menu (which I do not use) replaced by the FrameScript menu? RE: FrameScript menu disappearing
Hello Mathieu, I cannot access the FrameScript menu Do you get the FrameScript messages in the FM console on FM start? Try to comment out your (WebWorks) plug-ins in the maker.ini in the [APIClients] section. Is there a way to launching a script out of the menu command? No, I don't think so. index sorting by numbers with decimal points
Using FM 9.2. Is there an easy way to sort numeric index entries with decimal points...? As the reference page exists, my numerics are sorted according to the number appearing as the first number to the left of the decimal point - that results in my numbers not sorting correctly. For example, 9.3 appears after 750.350 because 9 is larger than 0. My current fix is to pad with zeros the numbers in my marker box by following the actual marker text with brackets enclosing the number to be sorted with the padded zeros. For example, 750.350[75000350] and 9.3[9003]. My books contain up to 100 legal statutory references and this process is tedious and incredibly time consuming. RE: index sorting by numbers with decimal points
Hi Phoenix, I use a similar algorithm, but in this case, you should be padding the just portion before the decimal point with zeros. 9.3[009.3] 750.350[750.350] I use a FrameScript script to do the padding so it is automated and painless. If you can send me a sample document, I will give you a price on a script. If you don't have FrameScript, the cost is 25% off this week. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. Re: FM 8 Unstructured Converting to PDF: Lose some text, headings, bullets in PDF only
First, you should also make sure that your system default printer is set to be the Acrobat printer -- if it isn't, you could be working with fonts that aren't available to you when you make the PDF -- if, for instance, they're resident on a physical printer down the hall, but not on your computer. And ince you mentioned that you're on XP, an important starting point would be to apply the PostScript Hotfix from Microsoft. The write-up is at http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2008/07/hotfix_for_framemaker_1.html and the fix itself is at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952909/en-us Cheers, Art Art Campbell art.campb...@gmail.com ... When I open the book and chapters/files, I get error messages indicating that some of the files are missing fonts and/or have unresolved cross-references. (The unresolved CRs don't show-up when I update the book.) The unresolved cross-references are a temporary phenomenon caused by the missing fonts. When you open File A, if it contains xrefs to File B, FM tries to open File B silently in the background just to check (resolve) the xrefs. If File B has missing fonts, FM can't open it silently -- it needs to alert you and find out what you want to do -- so the xrefs are (for the time being) unresolved. Find and fix your font problem, and the xref problem will probably disappear. Art suggested one possible cause, but there could be others (especially since you have other books without that problem). After you tell FM to open a file with unavailable fonts, temporarily substituting an available font, look in the Console window to see what fonts are missing. If they're really supposed to be used, then you'll need to install those fonts. But if it's just some obsolete cruft that came from an old version of a file or something, you might want to turn off Remember Missing Font Names and make the temporary replacement permanent. Search the archives for unavailable fonts to find detailed instructions for that and a host of other ways to deal with missing fonts. FrameScript menu disappearing
Hi all, I'm running FM9 on Vista 64. I downloaded WebWorks yesterday to perform some tests regarding an FM -> Confluence migration. Thank you all, Mathieu.

Hello Mathieu, > I cannot access the FrameScript menu Do you get the FrameScript messages in the FM console on FM start? Sorry for the late chime in on this, but FrameScript includes a paragraph mapping script that does this in the Samples directory. Works well. index sorting by numbers with decimal points
Thank you very much. Rick Quatro Carmen Publishing Inc. 585-659-8267 rick at frameexpert.com *** Frame Automation blog at http://frameautomation.com Using FM 9.2. Any ideas? ___

The write-up is at http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2008/07/hotfix_for_framemaker_1.html and the fix itself is at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952909/en-us Cheers, Art Art Campbell ? ? ? ? ? ? ? art.campbell at gmail.com ? FM 8 Unstructured Converting to PDF: Lose some text, headings, bullets in PDF only

(The unresolved CRs don't show-up when I update the > book.) The unresolved cross-references are a temporary phenomenon caused by the missing fonts. When you open File A, if it contains xrefs to File B, FM tries to open File B silently in the background just to check ("resolve") the xrefs. Search the archives for "unavailable fonts" to find detailed instructions for that and a host of other ways to deal with missing fonts. The Format List module, part of Toolbox for FrameMaker, is excellent for this. Here's a link to the modules price list: http://www.squidds.de/fileadmin/daten/pdfs/preislisten05_us/TOOLBOXfor_Modules_Pricelist_No5_Jan2010_USA_Squid_010210.pdf More info can be found on the entire Toolbox here: www.toolboxforme.com. I find the site very hard to navigate, but the tools are good. You can download a 30-day trial of the entire Toolbox. After 30 days, a few of the tools are free and continue to work.
