RE: URL Checker

2014-04-29 Thread Rick Quatro
Hi John, I did something like this for a client with FrameScript. I used the Msxml2.ServerXMLHTTP.4.0 object built into MSXML 4.0 (Microsoft's free XML parser) to send a GET request to each URL. If I got a "200" returned, the link was OK; a "404" told me that the link was incorrect. I think I used

Hi John... Interesting. First, you'd have to define what it means for a link to be "valid". Are these URLs to content on a web server? If so, does valid mean that it doesn't return a 404 error (page not found)? Or do you need to know that the page actually has the content that you expected it

Adobe licensing: the gift that keeps on giving

2014-04-29 Thread Joseph Lorenzini
Hi all, I am writing this to warn you about a licensing issue that could cause you great pain. This is about tcs 3.5. Adobes perpetual license, which I have, states that the license may only be activated on no more than two computers. However, it doesn't specify what a "computer" means which is r

Hi, guys...FM 11. I have a section in my books that is just pages and pages of links to text, sql, excel, and PDF files that are out on our Sharepoint system. As we go forward, the links are becoming a maintenance issue. While I know I cannot automate the creation of the links, I'd like to have s

RE: Acrobat X: Possible to transfer comments between PDFs?

2014-04-29 Thread Craig Ede
Look into how FM 12 handles importing PDF comments. I haven't used this yet, but my understanding is you can import the PDF comments into FM as conditional text. (The PDF must be a tagged PDF.) You could then change the condition on the item you want to save and then mass delete the rest via del

TCS5 bookmarks

2014-04-29 Thread Madeleine Dimond
Has anyone seen an issue with making bookmarks going from Frame 11 to Acrobat 11? The latest document bookmarked Units 1, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, although the styles are the same in each unit. The only workaround I've found is that each time I run a PDF from a book, I have to go to the Generate Acroba

RoboHelp links (from FM) appearing without a link destination

2014-04-29 Thread John G
Using Adobe TCS Suite 4 - FrameMaker 11, RoboHelp 10 I have a problem where cross-refs from one FM chapter to another chapter in the same book are not being turned into links in the RH output. In the FM files, I verified all the links are fine - no broken cross-refs. When I generate a PDF from t

Contextual Help Links Breaking?

2014-04-29 Thread Tammy Butcher
Hi - I have contextual help links on the topic headers of my FrameMaker 11 file that I output to an ePublisher WebWorks help file. I have not touched them because the application's interface has not changed. Yet, for some reason, the file will no longer branch to these help links. I have che
