2015-03-10 Thread Christenson, Pat
Thanks, Scott, but Silicon Prairie's Variable Tools did exactly what I needed.

Actually, I think a script is probably the easiest way.

Or .. you could download and install the trial of my FM2DITA plugin. One of the
commands is "Catalog Report" which will generate a list of most styles,
formats, and named objects (of which variable definitions are one) in the
current document.

http://leximation.com/tools/info/fm2dita.php

Most of the commands in this plugin will limit the amount of processing you can
do with the trial, but I'm pretty sure that this command has no such
limitations. It'll give you 30 days to do what you want .. so it might be worth
the effort to install. Just run the installer and get a trial auth code ..
don't bother with any of the other install instructions (unless of course you
want to try a DITA conversion).

Cheers,

It doesn’t appear that you can generate a list of variables so does anyone know
of a way to print the variable pod? (Other than screencapping it. There are a
few hundred variables so that would be a lot of screencaps.)

This is a one-time thing so a script would be overkill. Thanks.

My most used tool is “BookVars” from Leximation … thanks to Scott Prentice for
this excellent add-on.

It easily allows you to create a text file containing the variables being used,
and then manage them at the book level in the future.

Help with DTD for the Aircraft Maintenance Manual

2015-03-10 Thread Rick Quatro
Hello Framers,

I have a DTD for Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and am tasked with creating an
EDD and FrameMaker template. The problem is that I am not familiar with the
DTD and it has content requirements that aren't reflected in the client's
sample unstructured documents. I can certainly make some of the required
elements and attributes optional in the EDD, but I would like to get a
walkthrough so I can understand the purpose of each element. If you have
experience with the AMM DTD and can meet with me remotely, please let me
know. I have budget for this and a GoToMeeting account. Thank you very much.
