[Framers] FM2017: Update book makes makes element boundaries visible again, BUG?
Hi group When I do Edit > Update Book, I see that Show Element Boundaries (as Tags) is switched on again, which is not the idea, of course. Is anyone else seeing this? I'm using 14.0.2. Hello All I am working with XML files in FM 7.1. I prefer to work with Element Boundaries visible, so after opening a file I set this option on the View menu. However, when I close the file and open another one, I have to set it again. Is there any way to have this set as a permanent preference? I searched the maker.ini file but there seems to be no option there. Thanks all. Hi, Roger: The property is saved in each file. You can set the property for multiple files by selecting them in a book window and using View Show (or Hide) Element Boundaries, then perform Shift+File Save All Files In Book. Hi Roger... For XML files, you need to set this property in the template associated with the structure application that you're using. Any document-based property set in the template will be passed on to the XML file when it's opened. Auto Hide Element Boundaries?
Problem solved. Solution: I am an idiot. The RestoreWindows plugin was turning on element boundaries everytime I opened the file. Like I asked it to... I've left your suggestions in this reply Peter, as they are exactly what I WAS doing and should help anyone without the RestoreWindows plugin installed. Thanks to all for their responses. Auto Hide Element Boundaries?
Hi all, Still finding my feet with Structured Framemaker.. is there a way to turn off Element Boundaries when generating a PDF (save as PDF option)?? The boundaries are great to work with but my reviewers don't like them. How do I get rid of them across an entire book before PDFing? I've tried selecting all the files in the book and selecting the relevant VIEW menu, but when I go back into the book and open a file, the boundaries re-appear! Any suggestions? Yes Peter, and if I keep the files open I can generate a PDF without the boundaries showing. But if I hide the boundaries, close the file, and re-open it, the boundaries re-appear after a brief (flicker) delay. Same goes if I hide boundaries at the book level. Opening the file itself causes the boundaries to re-appear. I have the workaround of leaving the files open but: A. This shouldn't be happening, should it? B. I don't recall changing anything so why is this happening now? C. This SHOULDN'T be happening! The display of element boundaries and tags, as well as text symbols, and borders, and zoom percentage, are all saved with files. A quick way to manipulate multiple files is to use Shift+File.
