I'd second Harro's recommendation to change the format from .JPG because each
time the file is converted or saved, you lose data. I prefer .PNG both
for the original captures and for inclusion in files -- it works well
for printing, .pdfs and HTML

so I'm not sure what tool you're using.
My standard-operating-procedure for screen shots is to use a utility
such as SnagIt to capture and to resize
