Hi Leslie, I'm very confident that cups-base will not build without one
 of the zeroconf options defined.

I chose the mdnsresponder because it used less libraries and works. I
did try avahi but I recall it being difficult.

Try enabling MDNSRESONDER and advise if that worked to the ports list. :)

 Good luck, Dewayne.

Thank you Dewayne.

That did it!

cc1plus is actually gcc's C++ compiler, so clang isn't to blame here. :)

When the machine is idle these are the values.

Swap: 971M Total, 53M Used, 918M Free, 5% Inuse

I suspect you need more swap. I'd recommend installing clang33 as a
binary package.

I'm still struggling with this update! I've added memory upp to 1 Gb.
Swap is also 1 Gb.

The error I get now does not point to shortage of memory or swap space I
think.

The b29 update is triggering a serious bug in the kernel that causes this
issues. You can either update to a very recent FreeBSD stable (maximum
about a week old) or you can (forcibly) deinstall openjdk6 and install it
again which will use the bootstrapping jdk. Updating to b28 by using b29 to
compile it will not work.

Error when looking for port updates

2013-10-22 Thread Leslie Jensen

I have a script that does the following via cron

portsnap -I cron update
 /usr/local/sbin/portmaster -y --clean-distfiles
 /usr/local/sbin/portmaster -aF
 pkg version -vIL=

Today the result was very different from what I'm used to.

Is it my script that need to be fixed or are there some problems with ports?

I get

portaudit -F portaudit: Command not found

I understand that I need to install portaudit but should it really be
necessary?

Can you explain why I didn't have this problem on the 8.3 system. There's no
portaudit installed on that machine either?

Are you using pkgng on your FreeBSD 9.1 system?

Pkgng has a command similar to portaudit (pkg audit). Try pkg audit -F.

The quick way to build the latest curl on FreeBSD 9.1 is to
pass DISABLE_VULNERABILITIES to the make command. Its
probably a good idea to leave your audit db alone, for this task.

cd /usr/ports/ftp/curl make -DDISABLE_VULNERABILITIES

For portmaster this takes the form of
portmaster -m -DDISABLE_VULNERABILITIES ftp/curl

I'm unfamiliar with portupgrade.

rammina-plugin-rdp specifically requires libfreerdp.so.0. This is probably
wrong and removing the .0 may fix it.

What do you see from 'locate freerdp.so'? I'm guessing that freerdp has
bumped the shareable to .1.

locate freerdp.so is not returning anything!

[[ I asked about this problem on the -questions list a couple of days

A couple of days ago my system just simply decided to power itself off
(twice) whilst I was in the middle of doing portupgrade -a.

I have since learned that the unscheduled and unexpected power offs
were due to a CPU cooling problem. I believe that I have that problem
in hand now.

Separately however, and probably as result of the sudden power offs,
when I run pkg_version now I am getting many messages relating to
various of my installed packages, all having the following general
form:

pkg_version: the package info for package 'PKG' is corrupt

where `PKG' is the name of some package or another that I have installed.

I have at least 6 such messages for different packages I have installed...
and probably more.

I googled around a bit and did not find any good explanation for the
above error or, more importantly, what to do about it.

I gather however that my package data base has become corrupted.

OK, so how does one rebuild that from scratch?

Please don't tell me that I have to reinstall every bleedin' port from
scratch!

Regards,
rfg

P.S. Oh! And by the way, I just happen to have made a full system backup
quite recently. Do I just simply need to get the entire contents of
/var/db/pkg/ from that backup, and then do rm -fr /var/db/pkg and then
copy my backup copy of /var/db/pkg to the real /var/db/pkg ?

Will that fix the problem?

Updating poppler

I have it installed so I should be able to build it again, or has things

Have you already tried with the long options?

wbar --above-desk --bpress --pos bottom --nanim 7?

Best regards.

Yes that did it!

Changed to -- instead of - and now it works again.

Thank you for pointing it out :-)

I've been playing around with the position settings.

If I don't have a setting the bar places itself on the right.

Using the GUI command line settings and changing the position does not
change where the bar is. It stays on the right!

The problem that caused this error was fixed about two releases of
libreoffice ago and the legacy port is no longer needed (and has been
removed). You simply should not see that error when building the
current libreoffice port (v3.5.6).

Unfortunately that's exactly what I do :-(

I compiled and installed v3.5.6 yesterday and I still get the same error.

One issue is that different problems have been presenting with

technical assistance. I don't see anything we can do about that,
unfortunately.

Yes, it is really hard for me to fix all supported releases. :-(

Anyway, here is the patch for testing:

http://people.freebsd.org/~jkim/libreoffice-clang3.2.diff

The patch updated:

http://people.freebsd.org/~jkim/libreoffice-clang3.2_2.diff

Basically, you need to revert two patches, i.e.,
patch-solenv__gbuild__platform__unxgcc.mk and
patch-solenv__inc__unxgcc.mk.

It didn't work for old releases. :-(

Solution:

remove (temporary) boost-lib, boost-jam,
then go to the editors/libreoffice ...
and then choose the language: in my case : LOCALIZED_LANG=pt-BR
put it in the Makefile, (or /etc/make.conf)
than..
make install package,
in a 8 cores cpu, with 8 jobs in paralell, libreoffice builds in 2

after that,
reinstall boost-lib and boost-jam either from the ports, or from the

Works for me

Expect if you have java installed.

That is of course logical.

Shouldn't java be a dependency if Libreoffice can't start without it?

Exactly which java do you recommend that I install?

Hum it should start without java but the javahelper should still be there and
try to find a java saying not found.

What your are saying is that your libreoffice doesn't start at all?

This is not an error this is expected :)

Expect if you have java installed.

Thanks!

That is of course logical.

Shouldn't java be a dependency if Libreoffice can't start without it?

Exactly which java do you recommend that I install?

Obviously I meant kdelibs3 in the above -- this is starting to make me
dizzy, too.

At this point I have to think that it is not cairo that is the issue,
but something cairo is depending on that is referencing libpng.so.6.

What I normally would have suggested, but failed to do in this case
because cairo seemed like the obvious culprit, was to install
sysutils/bsdadminscripts and run 'pkg_libchk -o | grep png to track
down ports that still depend on the old libpng. It will take a few
minutes to run.

I suspect something cairo links to (but is not in the listed depends)
is needs to be re-built.

This was very helpful! 'pkg_libchk -o | grep png gave me around 28
ports which I removed. Then I did the command again just to see if there
was any offending ports left.

The machine has been building ports through the night but has now
stopped on a different error. I will post a new message on that.

portmaster -r png- Stop in /usr/ports/devel/gobject-introspection

Hello

I can see that there's a problem with finding libpng.so.6

I have

/usr/local/lib/libpng15.so.15
/usr/local/lib/libpng.so

I could make a soft link to one of the above and call it
libpng.so.6.

Is that a good way to solve this?

Suggestions appreciated

It's difficult to determine the source of the problem without more
information -- are you using python26-2.6.8_1 or python27-2.7.3_1? If
so, try updating to the latest revision ( _2, in each case) of your
python port, with UCS4 support enabled, and then rebuild the ports
that depend upon it. There were problems in the penultimate revisions
of those ports, which have since been corrected.

Ok, you have a broken recursive DNS server configuration.

I'll have A records as a fallback for situations like this where SRV can't be
used.

What exactly does that mean? The IP-address is my home router that acts
as a caching DNS for my network. The router in turn uses my ISP's DNS.

So if there is a configuration issue I'll be willing to drop a letter to
my ISP in order to get it fixed.

Probably your router doesn't support SRV records, try putting external

Wbar not displaying correctly

2012-05-09 Thread Leslie Jensen

I've upgraded one system from 8.2-RELEASE to 8.3-RELEASE.

Rebuild all ports with portmaster after the upgrade.

My problem is that Wbar now displays the first applications icon as
background picture. If I move another application to the top position
its icon will be displayed as the background.

I start wbar with the following command in a script that's auto started
in XFCE.

wbar -above-desk -bpress -pos bottom

I get the following when starting from the command line

Problem load font file. TerminalEmulator

Here TerminalEmulator is my first application. It'll change if I move
another application to the top.

I've tried to recompile with portmaster -rf x11/wbar but there's no
change in behaviour.

I have two other systems running 8.2 with exactly the same set up and
there wbar is not displaying this behaviour.

Any hints appreciated

Thanks

/Leslie

First, Usually I use Swedish. With the upgrade I got an English version.
Should I have used any make parameter for Swedish?

Second, I'm quite fond of the ability to show non printing characters.

On the positive side I'm happy to see that printing works again. I've

Localization in Firefox and Thunderbird

2012-02-05 Thread Leslie Jensen

Hello

I'm in doubt on how to do localization in Firefox and Thunderbird the
correct way.

I've added these lines in my /etc/make.conf

# Firefox-i18n
FIREFOX_I18N=sv-SE

# Thunderbird-i18n
THUNDERBIRD_I18N=sv-SE

/usr/ports/www/firefox-i18n:make config

Here I've marked Swedish

/usr/ports/mail/thunderbird-i18n:make config
=== No options to configure

Even so after I upgrade everything is in English.

I would like to be able to keep the settings so that Swedish is the default.

Any advise on this?

Thanks

2012-02-05 12:12, Gökşin Akdeniz skrev:

In the process of portupgrading installed ports process looks broken. I
run portupgrade to upgrade my ports and firefox-i18n port is marked as
IGNORE whenever I try tu upgrade it. Only work around solution is to
unisntall the old version, resintall the new one. this will only fetch
and install the preferred locale set by makeconfig. The proper xpi file
will reside in /usr/ports/distfiles/xpi/firefox-i18n/. It will be
installed but Firefox will start with English menus.

Here is my findings, I hope it helps.

Firefox and Thunderbird may run with different locales set for each
user. Both applications parses the configuration file which is pref.js
in /home/user_name/.mozilla/firefox/somestring.default
directory. The xpi-quick-locale-switcher edits prefs.js file
in .mozilla/firefox/somestring.defult directory with user interaction
and Firefox starts with preferred local afterwards.

That is what it used to be. Port installs the selected locale files
via Firefox chrome stuff and local settings still requires adjustment
with user interaction due to installed xpi files resides in user's home
directory in .mozilla/firefox/*.

The only solution I have is to remove the old local xpi file manually
and isnatll the new one from /usr/ports/distfiles/xpi/firefox-i18n/ and
restart firefox.

Thank you!

This worked for me with both FF and TB.

It is!

2. Why try to install Thunar v1.3.0, it's development version, not
production ready. The latest stable version is better imho.

Where do you find this port ?

This port is on my system as a part of the meta port xfce4.

I just run a little script with portsnap and it tells me which ports are
available for upgrade.

Assuming p5-XML-Parser is installed, re-install it. While I don't

understand why, several times I have gotten this error on various ports and
simply re-installing the port seems to fix it.

Your suggestion worked.

Upgrade to a supported version. I have replaced several old 3.1 servers
with net/isc-dhcp42-server without any problems. If you have a very
complex setup you'll want to test your dhcpd.conf file on an isolated
network of course.
