I have since learned that the unscheduled and unexpected power offs were due to a CPU cooling problem. I believe that I have that problem in hand now. Separately however, and probably as result of the sudden power offs, when I run pkg_version now I am getting many messages relating to various of my installed packages, all having the following general form: pkg_version: the package info for package 'PKG' is corrupt where `PKG' is the name of some package or another that I have installed. I have at least 6 such messages for different packages I have installed... and probably more. I googled around a bit and did not find any good explanation for the above error or, more importantly, what to do about it. I gather however that my package data base has become corrupted. OK, so how does one rebuild that from scratch? Please don't tell me that I have to reinstall every bleedin' port from scratch! Regards, rfg P.S. Oh! And by the way, I just happen to have made a full system backup quite recently. Do I just simply need to get the entire contents of /var/db/pkg/ from that backup, and then do rm -fr /var/db/pkg and then copy my backup copy of /var/db/pkg to the real /var/db/pkg ? At this point I have to think that it is not cairo that is the issue, but something cairo is depending on that is referencing libpng.so.6. What I normally would have suggested, but failed to do in this case because cairo seemed like the obvious culprit, was to install sysutils/bsdadminscripts and run 'pkg_libchk -o | grep png to track down ports that still depend on the old libpng. It will take a few minutes to run. I suspect something cairo links to (but is not in the listed depends) is needs to be re-built. This was very helpful! 'pkg_libchk -o | grep png gave me around 28 ports which I removed. Then I did the command again just to see if there was any offending ports left. After upgrade to libreoffice 3.5.2
I've got two questions: First, Usually I use Swedish. With the upgrade I got an English version. Should I have used any make parameter for Swedish? Second, I'm quite fond of the ability to show non printing characters. This does not work any more :-( On the positive side I'm happy to see that printing works again. I've had problems with printing for a while. Localization in Firefox and Thunderbird
Hello I'm in doubt on how to do localization in Firefox and Thunderbird the correct way. I've added these lines in my /etc/make.conf # Firefox-i18n FIREFOX_I18N=sv-SE # Thunderbird-i18n THUNDERBIRD_I18N=sv-SE /usr/ports/www/firefox-i18n:make config Here I've marked Swedish /usr/ports/mail/thunderbird-i18n:make config === No options to configure Even so after I upgrade everything is in English. I would like to be able to keep the settings so that Swedish is the default. Any advise on this? I run portupgrade to upgrade my ports and firefox-i18n port is marked as IGNORE whenever I try tu upgrade it. Only work around solution is to unisntall the old version, resintall the new one. this will only fetch and install the preferred locale set by makeconfig. The proper xpi file will reside in /usr/ports/distfiles/xpi/firefox-i18n/. It will be installed but Firefox will start with English menus. Here is my findings, I hope it helps. Firefox and Thunderbird may run with different locales set for each user. Both applications parses the configuration file which is pref.js in /home/user_name/.mozilla/firefox/somestring.default directory. The xpi-quick-locale-switcher edits prefs.js file in .mozilla/firefox/somestring.defult directory with user interaction and Firefox starts with preferred local afterwards. That is what it used to be. Port installs the selected locale files via Firefox chrome stuff and local settings still requires adjustment with user interaction due to installed xpi files resides in user's home directory in .mozilla/firefox/*. The only solution I have is to remove the old local xpi file manually and isnatll the new one from /usr/ports/distfiles/xpi/firefox-i18n/ and restart firefox. Thank you! This worked for me with both FF and TB. /Leslie ___ freebsd-ports@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-ports To unsubscribe, send any mail to freebsd-ports-unsubscr...@freebsd.org
