2010-11-02 Thread pepeto

Follow-up Comment #4, bug #16994 (project freeciv):

> One of my allies has ghost units, in the attached T396 savegame.

I cannot see them, where? Are they really ghost, or maybe they just move at
all, like bug #16643?

> There are some Indian Cruisers in Kirkuk that don't move and
> don't heal.

Actually, the wounded Cruisers in Kirkuk moves every turn, that's why it
doesn't heal. This is however a strange AI strategy...

The unload menu item just unload the unit, it doesn't select it. Maybe you
should use "Activate unit, close dialog". However, this could be discussed,
should unload select the units?

Severity: 2 - Minor
Priority: 1 - Later

 Planned Release: 2.3.0

___

Details:

Among things to run at least once in a release cycle is src-check and fixing
what is sensible to fix (often the tests themselves)

> cd test
> make src-check
> cat check-output

Among things currently reported is a number of files where va_list is used
but stdarg.h is not included.

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #17004] Default beginning of the URL for freeciv-modpack

2010-11-02 Thread Marko Lindqvist

URL:

Summary: Default beginning of the URL for freeciv-modpack
 Project: Freeciv
Submitted by: cazfi
Submitted on: Tuesday 11/02/2010 at 14:20
Category: module installer
Severity: 1 - Wish
Priority: 1 - Later
  Status: None
 Assigned to: None
Originator Email:
 Open/Closed: Open
 Release:
 Discussion Lock: Any
Operating System: None
 Planned Release: 2.3.0

___

Details:

I assume much of the material downloadable by freeciv-modpack will be in some
single location. It would be a good idea to prefill URL field with that
"default" beginning or the URL. It would give people some idea where to look
for the material. Otherwise end users would have no clue what to enter to the
URL field.

We have to decide what that default location is. I'm ready to host this at
cazfi.net, but it would definitely be a nice if someone with more time to
commit would step up.
Assuming nobody else steps up, I could host these in location like
"http://www.cazfi.net/freeciv/modinst/2.3/"; where "modinst" can be replaced
with better directory name if someone has good suggestion and 2.3 is
DATASUBDIR from fc_version. Then full URL to ancients modpack would be
"http://www.cazfi.net/freeciv/modinst/2.3/ancients.modpack";
Another possibility is to take advantage of the fact that meta.freeciv.org is
actually cazfi.net. Using that host name would have advantage of not being
tied to my name, but to name of the freeciv project.
"http://meta.freeciv.org/modinst/2.3/";. Full URL to ancients would be
"http://meta.freeciv.org/modinst/2.3/ancients.modpack";

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #16800] Segmentation fault in unit_type()

2010-11-02 Thread Marko Lindqvist

Follow-up Comment #13, bug #16800 (project freeciv):

> It should probably be forbidden to move to a city not adjacent
> to a native tile. At least, it would simplify it a lot.

FYI that would break civ1 ruleset compatibility with civ1. It was common
practice to build canals with cities next to each other in civ1.
But those canals seem to be broken anyway (civ1 ruleset has been crashing,
most likely because of them, for years) and I don't think civ1 compatibility
is a high priority for us any more (not many people use it anyway as is
obvious from the fact that I'm the only one who has filed bugs about those
crashes)

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #16994] Some bugs with units

2010-11-02 Thread David Lowe

Follow-up Comment #11, bug #16994 (project freeciv):

"The unload menu item just unload the unit, it doesn't select it. Maybe you
should use "Activate unit, close dialog". However, this could be discussed,
should unload select the units?"

No, i should have been more specific. When i unload a unit, normally it is
added to the queue of units that will get the focus. However, in some
instances a unit with available movement points will be left out of the queue
as if it had no movement points available. It will be forgotten until the
next turn unless i search for it and click to activate it. It doesn't happen
in every case, but seems to be involved when the transport uses all its
movement points. In a direct answer to your question, though, i think it
would be better if the focus were given to the unloaded units rather than the
transport.

The client can already do goto, connect with road, rail, irrigate over
waypoints. What it can't do is switch jobs between waypoints.

E.g. go to tile A, connect with road to tile B, connect with irigation to
tile C, connect with rail to tile D, build mine.

The goto protocol between client and server is flexible enought o handle
this. All it needs is a way for the user to input the commands.

Update of bug #17009 (project freeciv):

Follow-up Comment #1:

I got it down to the idex module. In the savegame, the removal of unit #177
is requested but unit #171 is destroyed (between line 197 and 200 below,
idex_unregister_unit(punit) is called). Thus, the unit 171, a transporter for
a Barbarian Leader is missing.

I know nothing about the idex/hash module. Pepeto, could you have a look?

I attach the savegame as well as a small patch which shows the problem:

adapted from longturn (longtun svn6460)
original by kernigh

Message for population cost of units, like "Warriors cost 1 population.
Canberra shrinks to size 3." The message only appears if one enables a new
ruleset option, which is off by default.

This is feature #257: http://redmine.pagema.net/issues/257

Even if this adds an additional string, perhaps it is possible to add it to
S2_3 as it is requested by longturn (see link above).
