Another option might be to have both:
The new rawdatarx/rawdatatx functions use a continuous buffer of data
bytes (with maybe the last one being incomplete)
And we re-introduce the codecrx/codectx as functions to send/receive
codec2 frames.
With a little bit of refactoring the overhead of both
Hi Glen,
OK so you want to work on reducing PAPR, with the goal of improving
performance on VHF channels. Comments/questions:
1/ What do you mean by a "flat VHF channel"? Flat fading or just AWGN?
2/ Can you pls post a wavefile of a demodulated SSB signal with a PAPR
of less than 4.5dB? Given

Perhaps the latter, however we
Hi Al,
I ment the part of freedv_mixed_rx where it gets the codec data and
decodes it itself, not the whole program :)
But you actually found a bug in the library... or at least an inconsistency.
For all modes except 700D the rawdatarx() returns whole codec2 frames
with each frame starting at a

Hmmm... digital future at 12.5 kHz on 80 metres. No comment, er, well,
suppressed comment, hee

Someone needs t0 point out to these people such bandwidth is only
permitted at 29 MHz FM and not anywhere else. I will look up the rules

Hi David
The goal is to improve FreeDV so that it is at least equal with SSB on a
flat VHF channel.
On HF, the performance of FreeDV is better than SSB mainly because it
can both a) work at low SNR and b) can mitigate the effects of a
frequency selective channel (which reduces speech
Hi all,
I suggested, on his FT991 he should try some FreeDV modes
