Alex, Dark_Mac,
You're right, Thanks!
I thought I had tried the Alt key.
Now I can confidently include a PC keyboard with a G4.
The other key needed - F12 to open the Optical drive tray - is a
direct match.
Anyone think of something that would NOTt work on a PC keyboard
attached to a G4?

What's the error? Do the Console logs show anything?
Any suggestions?

Applicable Mini-PCI cards may be identified in two ways:
1) by manufacturer-to-MAC-address
Examples:
Broadcom is 000DB6, 001018, 001BE9, 18C086 and 0005B5, and possibly
others; or
2) by MAC-address-to-manufacturer
Example:
0016cf is Hon Hai Precision Ind. Co., Ltd.
Now, most of the cards

I never had any intent of trashing the G4 unless I could have afforded a new
Mac Pro. :)
I got the power supply rebuilt for $89 and a lot less time than you
outlined. Fired right up, the mobo and all drives are fine.
Now I need to revisit my backup plan - as that IS my backup machine and I

A dual 1.8 G4 in 9.2? I can't even imagine how fast that would be.
Well IMHO In defense of the Dual 1.8 upgrade, some of us Mac addicts like to
get the old dogs dancing in the alley. Theres something to be said about the
wind up of the PM G4 fans not to spaek of being able to boot OS 9.2.2

It is darn fast on a MDD 1.25 In my case I have CAD/CAM software that needs to
run from native OS7.5 to 9.2.2 so the combination of Tiger and 9 is something
necessary here
Well, there you go. One of the main reasons I got this dual 1 GHz MDD
a few years ago is that it boots so nicely into 9.2.2. I can still
cling to some of my ancient software and still easily get to the many
files that are in that ancient software. in fact, I took the HD out
my previous G3 BW

I'd not compare the mini to a MDD G4.
The G4 has 6 bays, room for four PCI cards, etc.
I'd need to see the mini benchmarks, but it didn't grab me when it
first came out.
For some people, it's not about bang for the buck. A true hobbyist can

Hello All,
I'm actually a member of the LEM list, but I figured this would be a
more appropriate place to post on given its about the G4 series.
I've been working on my skills with soldering, rewiring, etc and have
made really good progress with retrofitting the G4 MDD macs with ATX
power
You can actually get cheap power supplies from CompUSA. I got an Ultra 500 watt
supply for a gaming PC (sorry I'm not paying $1200 for an iMac with an old GPU)
and it has lasted 1 year and it is still going good.

Conclusion: There is no joy to be had from this GeForce 5200 FX
graphics card. Tiger booting problems and kernel panics during
booting, restarts, and occasionally while running applications
(Console, Safari, Mail), and possibly an OS 9 problem because of it.
I can't absolutely make that
