Using SATA and IDE drives in same G4 Macintosh

Does anyone have experience with having both and IDE and SATA (via SATA-to-IDE adapter) installed in the same G4 Macintosh? I currently have two rotational drives, one with Tiger installed, the other with Leopard on my G4 2002 Quicksilver. The Leopard drive is beginning to should "yellow" SMART

Thanks for the responses everyone. I confirmed that the noise was coming from the CPU cooling fan. I removed it, removed the label, applied about 5 small drops of 3-in-1 oil to the bearing and worked it in until the fan blades were able to move freely. I replaced the unit, and it is much, much
