What you described is true, those apps are Classic.
But Carbon Apps can run with Classic or native. There is supposed to be
a way to make them run in Classic but I don't recall how off hand.
Apparently you switched AppleWorks to run in Classic. Try doing a Get

Hey, if any of you working in Classic don't want to feel like you're
using an OS 9 app, email me. I have a package made by an Apple UI guy
in his spare time during May of 2000; consists of an Appearance Theme
and two CPs. It's now impossible to find b/c Apple caught wind of what
he did

Yes both will work fine as will Classic.
It's 10.5 that

This is not true. AppleWorks 6 (Version 6.2.9 to be specific) runs
happily on my iMac G5 under OS 10.5.5, which does not support Classic
at all.

That is flat wrong. AW6 was, like Apple's very first OS X native
program, they used it as a showcase of Carbon

Okay everybody,
I just ran my little tests and confirmed that you're all correct (Dan,
Bruce, Fabian, Ken, Clark) about AW 6 booting natively in OS X without
Classic.
Wow, I had no idea, but AW 6 stayed on when I shut down Classic, and
booted back up from scratch when I double clicked it in

You have to install AppleWorks 6 in Classic if it's an original
AppleWorks disc prior to the 6.2 version, but then you use the 6.2.x
upgrader to Carbonize the app.

Regarding installing AppleWorks 6 on OSX: You can't just take the OS9
AppleWorks 6 installer and install it on 10. If you have AppleWorks 6
installed on OS9 this is what you do to get it to run in OSX:
Simply drag folder from OS9 to your OSX applications folder and open it. I
use AppleWorks 6 on
Classic will work great in 10.4. Also AppleWorks 6 will work perfectly in

Will I still have Classic once I upgrade to 10.4?
