Hello PowerPC users! TenFourFox is FireFox 4 for PowerPC Macs running Tiger AND Leopard. Now, at least the very fast G5 Power Macs running Mac OS 10.5 are not left out of future development (video like Flash and WebM). (Until no more security updates are coming for 10.5…) I doubt that video streaming will ever work on my G3 B&W anyhow. For instance, YouTube has unresolved overlaps of the player on the background. It seems a little faster than Firefox 3.6, but not currently an option for me. It's nice that when you download and run TFF it uses all your Firefox resources but will let you go back to Firefox without any problems detected by me. I'd be interested in any others' experiences with TFF. The page at Firefox says an Intel architecture machine is recommended for Firefox 4. They don't say it is required. It has been possible to view YouTube for years without Flash. It was a little difficult in the past, but pretty easy now. I removed the User Access Plate, as it was called at xlr8yourmac. I took off the 4 T15 screws. I don't see how the bottom plate comes off. I see in the pictures that they got it out. But, what do you pull or pry on? From reading ahead in the takeapart article, I am a bit concerned about the copper foil. Is is difficult to put back on after you take it all apart? In the 2nd photo the plug that's causing you problems is shown taken apart in about the 11 o'clock position and someone has used a photo editor to attempt to place a transparent red box over both halves of the problem connector. To remove you wiggle the two halves apart gently but firmly. Alternatively you can try pulling directly upward but be careful not to bend the board too much and pull with very even pressure. The wiggle method is better in my opinion. I can get a flat bladed screwdriver under that. If I do that and pull, am I going to remove the bottom plate or just mess up the bottom plate? I don't see any place around the outside edge that I can pull on or get a screwdriver under. Or, am am missing the right place to apply pressure? The *point* of TenFourFox is that it is a *PowerPC* build of Firefox 4. Cameron has put in an amazing amount of work to keep FF running on our older PowerPC-based Macs. Check it out! It runs very well on my 400 MHz Pismo. It runs so well that it can play the lowest quality Flash videos on YooToobe. I didn't feel the need to go back using FF, though, because I had no problem whatsoever in running TFF (currently 4.0b13pre). I'd say that TFF (even it's still a beta release) is somehow faster and smoother than FF 3.6.15 I used before. I can't remember for sure now, but it could be "No more PPC and OSX 10.4 (or lower) with FF 4".
