You need to have an OHCI-compatible card; however afaik most or all USB2 cards are, since Windpws XP required OHCI as well. What does system profiler say? What OS and version are you using? OS 9 does not support USB2 and I'm not sure all USB2 chipsets will work. OSX should require no drivers, since USB2 support is built-in. In OSX, it should just work, so either the card isn't plugged in all the way, you have a dead PCI slot, or it's a DOA card. -- Bruce Johnson Wherever you go, there you are B. So we know the webcam is ok, it just needs a faster port. Did you try anything else on the USB2 card? A memory stick, something simple, so you can check if the card is operational at all. Am I doing something wrong? Is my USB card maybe only for PC? It seems to me you're doing everything right, but maybe your card is not Mac-compatible. USB2 cards can be tricky... I tried one recently (I got it from a PC), a memory stick on it worked fine, but a 2,5 external HD had troubles. OTOH, the Mac-compatible card I have, always worked fine. Do I need a driver for the new USB 2.0? In OSX you don't need drivers (they are built-in), in OS9 there are NO USB2 drivers. If it works at some point, do I end up with two USB buses? Yes, that's how they appear in my G4 DA with the USB2 card: there's an USB bus and an High speed USB bus. (actually there are several USB bus, because I have an USB 1.1 Hub connected; anyway System profiler can tell the difference between speeds). -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. TI's chip set is the gold standard for USB 2.0, but later VIAs work as well. However, early VIAs may not work. NEC, as Renesas (sp ?), is the gold standard for USB 3.0 chip sets. Indicia on chips is applied by laser etching, not by ink or paint. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
