Hi, Yes, sadly the free alternatives NVDA and Thunder are hardly more than advanced versions of Windows narrater. It is also true that making a commercial grade screen reader is a really really tough thing to do. At the moment my unstable thing I call a screen reader isn't much to speak of yet.
