Shades of Doom Beta version 20015:
From David Greenwood on 7 July:
Hi all,
Fixed many of the problems mentioned such as the toilet that doesn't give up
its ammo, or even give up its blob, the problem with the crate and several
other things. They were all related.

Hi,
I've missed this update.
Has david made the game bigger? What are the real differences between this
and the 1.2 version?

Just taking a run through the demo. I love being able to play with my
screen reader or Sapi, but the output to native screen readers could
probably use some refinement. At the moment, the speech is very jerky,
presumably because David is sending the exact same instructions to the
various screen
To me, the speech coming from JAWS 14 using ScanSoft Tom is not jerky at
all. It may be so with other screen readers, but this one is just fine.

Ooh, the plot thickens! If you get a chance Charles, it'd be
interesting to see how Sapi set to the same voice performs for you.

It'll be done some time today. I don't need any excuse to play this beta,
but now I've got one anyway. Truth is, SOD is a game that I like, but for
some reason that I can't put a thumb on, I haven't played it all that much.
I think this beta has cured the issue. Now that I've worked with it

In the first stage Charlie rides on the back of a lion and must jump

Something else I've just noticed, key interrupt seems a bit wonky. For
example, if I'm running along and I hit V to check whether I've been
down this passage before, that stops me running. I'm pretty sure that
wasn't the case in SOD1.2, and it's already making movement around

I've been having some problems sending and receiving messages on this list. I
just saw a few come in, so thought I'd try a test.

I didn't see the message I sent out a few minutes ago. I'm following up on it
from my sent messages folder. I don't think that server likes me anymore. Ha. I
may try with another email address if this keeps up. Sorry about the bandwidth
wastage with these messages.

and what kind of animal (in a slightly different form) might make a tasty
lunch. Also consider the weapons you have--they aren't all just for killing
things.

My big issue with JAWS isnt' jerky speech, but the fact that JAWS insists on
saying blank every time I hit a control left, right, ro down arrow, and
that it says selected when shift is used in conjunction with the
aforementioned keys. Also, JAWS seems to be intercepting the keys as usual,
