You are right. I've always found one in the cabinet in the Staff Room, but
you need the Pen Knife found in the kitchens in order to get in. And once
you do, you'll want to watch out. There's a nasty surprise waiting for you
in there.

Hi Phil,
Ok, I am not using JFW but Window Eyes 6.1 on my Vista machine so JFW is
certainly not the cause here. In any case after loading the game I
unload WE from memory.
Second, you asked if the i key has the same problem as up arrow. I don't
know, but I will certainly give it a try next time
Hi Karl,
Normally, I would agree with you on that except it doesn't last for a
few seconds. This has resulted in complete freezes in the game in a
couple of cases. Also only the arrow keys seam to be effected.
Everything else works.
It could still be resources since Vista is a resource hog in it

Hi Nicol,
Generally, the dedicated servers are better than non-dedicated servers.
For that I would pick to download from draconis.

I've heard of someone spending 15 hours on downloading the Sarah game.
I personally don't like download managers, because their techniques don't
apply to every internet connection. But hey, if the Draconis server is fast
enough it'll only take me about 4 minutes to download the game.

Hi Tom,
Do you have the same slow down using the I key for forward?
If not it may be a JFW in memory grabbing the key problem.
If you hit control c to clear your buffers does that fix the problem
temporarily?
If so, you may have to adjust the buffers in the text file SCW.INI.
Hope these help.
Phil

Hi.
While I was ideally thinking of the first style of game you mentioned, I
certainly wouldn't dismiss a decently constructed text game with sound if it
qualified as an Rpg.
Personally though, sinse they don't involve progressive plot, exploration or
interactions with npcs beyond shop keepers
I meant the former. Star Trek: Final Conflict has part of the groundwork
already laid with its turn-based battle system. But I'd want a fully audio
RPG, not something you need a screen reader to play. We have enough of those

Hi,
I'm just curious as to what you'd define an audio RPG. Do you mean a
game that's fully emersive, with audio environments and soundscapes
played in RPG style somehow, or an RPG that you can read with the
screenreader that contains audio effects?
If the second one, DragonSlayer Games which is

Hi Luke,
Writing your games in C++ is a good idea. In many ways I wish I had
written my projects using C++, but the rapid development aspects of
C#.NET won out.
Anyway, good luck to you.

Hi Nicol,
Getright can speed up your download if the server allows it, and the
best part is resuming failed downloads.
With a 12 to 15 hour download if it fails for some reason like your
modem hangups up or something at the 11th hour it is always nice to be
able to resume the download where it l

Hi Phil,
I have one very consistant error, bug, or problem with Sarah that
happens quite often. I'm not sure if this is a result of me using Vista,
if this issue is related to system resources, or what, but it happns all
the time to me.
I know you are suppose to use the up arrow and down arrow
Hi Nicol,
When I downloaded Sarah it took me about 12 hours to get the full
package, and that was on a fairly good dialup connection.
