 Hi all,

Has anyone tried this game out? It's at: http://www.magicduel.com, and
even though it says it's got artwork and graphics and things, it does
have a pretty big storyline, and I just wonder if these graphics have
alt tags. You guys can try and login to the guest account if you can
get things working. I know they need to fix the fact that us blind
users don't have accessible captchas. Or rather, captcha since there's
only one, but that's beside the point. See if anyone can get, with or
without sighted assistance, the supposed scroll you're supposed to
click on on some sort of table to get the game started. I atempted
contacting them at [EMAIL PROTECTED] since I thought this was the
main address, but guess not. This game has more game reviews than I've
seen in a while, and it has some pretty nifty music when the website
loads. Take a look around and see if any of you can contact the
developers. From what I gather, this game isn't number crunching.

[Audyssey] Firm Football: What's a Hooligan game?

2008-04-19 Thread Orin
Hi all,

I've just found this online game in which you manage some sort of
firm. I've played in the beta for a little while, but since it kept
resetting I just waited till launch so it'd stop. But they really
don't explain what a Hooligan game is, I guess it's fighting with
football combined? Because I guess you run a business and watch
football matches at the same time, not sure on actually what it is.
Check it out at: http://www.firmfootball.com

well my symbian phone is a s60 3rd addition fp1 type.
But it is a s60 v3.
most of the stuff that people have are in the s60 range.
even the 3000 are s 60, most stuff is s60v3, there are a few v2s and v1s but
these are really old now.
there is also a s80 and s90 type but again I havn't seen many moddels of said
units, and when I looked at said units they were quite big.

well just look at all the recordings people have posted over the years.
those games are accessible.
lets see if i can get those.
capcombowling.
grand theft auto
lord of the rings return of the king and probably the others in that series.
lotr tactics
madon
mk deception.
mk armageden, thats mortal combat by the way.
and standard mk
new jam
svr2006
tekin 3 and tekin 5 fox
and teken 5 le
toshindon 3 gia

these are all the console games in my folder of recordings.
Some of these may not be psp, but if you look at the game play mirror, I think
its at www.liamerven.com as well as the www.wecanplay.info sites there is
info, broadcasts, etc.
You probably should ask liam, and subscribe to the wecanplay info list on that
site.
However you need to hack the psp if you plan to download games, and as to that
at least on the wecanplay list no one has actually done that.
Or knows how or at least they are not sharing.

Re: [Audyssey] Self-Voicing Nethack

2008-04-19 Thread Christopher Bartlett
One of the cool elements about the Nethack/Rogue/Moria game class is
the ability for users to create new monsters to inhabit their
dungeons and player races. I am thinking in particular of Zangband,
the variant in which you could play Amberites out of Roger Zelazny's universe.

Quests a la Angband would also be extremely cool.

Yes that's right. It has random dungeons and is modeled after roguelike

[Audyssey] nethack question

2008-04-19 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
Hi all

For any who do play nethack I've a small question. Does anyone know of a
way to tell if you have completely explored the particular dungeon level?
I did use a scroll which showed all the gold on a level including some I
hadn't found. The trouble then was to get to it. The underline navigation
does seem to work pretty well so far, but any other tips to make it easier
are welcome.

Thanks
Ron

[Audyssey] Lands of Hope

2008-04-19 Thread Shadow Dragon
Hi,

I just recently came across a game called Lands of Hope. Its kind of a
complicated game to describe, it has a focus on exploration, questing and
grinding, with some resource management thrown into the mix as well (though I'm
level 9 as of now and I haven't seen any resource management bits, though I
have seen buildings and shops and dungeons and the like crafted by other
players.) Its got a lot of advanced systems, you can craft and build things,
get and train pets, enslave other NPC characters to work for you, which leads
me to believe that later in the game you might be able to get a party of some
kind going. The game is multiplayer, and it does have PVP, but the PVP is more
tacked on for people that enjoy that sort of thing, its not all that well
fleshed out and its optional. There are several professions you can play as,
you have your classics, fighter, mage, etc, and your not so classics, animator
(or golem craftsman,) salvager (has massive loot bonuses,) etc. You can also
unlock new professions, races and enhancements as you explore the land with
your multitude of characters. Now that I've gotten all your hopes up, time for
the bad news. The interface is very, well, complex to use with screen readers.
Battling is fine, but you'll have to get used to doing mouse overs, that is,
letting your jaws cursor hover over an option, then moving to where the
information for that mouse over would be displayed. A lot of the menues in this
game are drop-down mouseovers, and if you want information on beasta, NPCs,
items, etc, you have to do a mouse over and look in the main window to find out
what iti s. Most of you probbably don't consider this type of thing accessible,
but it is workable once you get used to it. Movement is a little tough, you can
click on various paths and the like to go to places, but what I do, and this is
with jaws, not sure about other readers, is turn off the virtual PC cursor and
use the arrow keys to move around, turning the virtual cursor back on to read
info like if I've found the monster I need to kill or whatever. Once you get
out of the newbie are you can also type x y coordinates into edit boxes and
move around that way, though I imagine that'd be tougher till you've learned
the lay of the land. Combat is a rather interesting affair. It works as I would
imagine diablo working if it were browser based. You have your basic attack
options, but to cast spells, use abilities and the like, you actually have to
go into the abilities screen and ready them for battle, then click the ability
button or spell button in battle and that ability will be used. The battle
system is one of the more accessible parts of the game so there should be no
trouble there.

Anyway, I'd say this game is worth a look if you're up for a bit of a challenge
in accessibility. It can be made fully accessible if you just stick with it and
have patience, and if you encounter any problems the game master is
accomidating. You can find the game at:

 Hi all,

I've just found this online game in which you manage some sort of
firm. I've played in the beta for a little while, but since it kept
resetting I just waited till launch so it'd stop. But they really
don't explain what a Hooligan game is, I guess it's fighting with
football combined? Because I guess you run a business and watch
football matches at the same time, not sure on actually what it is.

just look at the main character of the mainstream mega man X series, a robot

Re: [Audyssey] rpg versus 3d

2008-04-19 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Nicol,
I am assuming by 3D Game you are talking about something in the first
person or third person style of game play. If so there is a very large
difference between a first person game and a roll playing game.
Roll Playing Games are largely based on group play, a well crafted story
driven play, the luck of the dice, etc. While computer based roll
playing games is becoming more common there is still a lot of them that
are still your basic paper and pen variety. No matter if an RPG is a
computer game or the classic paper and pen game there is always one
player called the Game Master who controls all the enemies, sees that
the story unfolds ok, and make sures the heroic characters follow the
game's rules.
For example, when I was in college I use to play the Star Wars RPG guild
they had on campis once and a while. Each person would pick out a
character, gather around a big table with a paper and pen, in my case a
laptop, and the game would begin. The Game Master would read out the
story of the adventure and lead the game up to the point the players
could begin trying to do something. Here is an example of a basic Star
Wars RPG adventure we might play.
Rebel Inteligence has lost contact with planet x in the outer rim. Luke
Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chebacca set out to make contact
with Rebel forces on planet x in the Milennium Falcon. Upon landing on
Planet X our heroes are surrounded by Imperial Storm Troopers and are
taken prisoner.
The Game Master will then describe that the Star Wars heroes are being
held in a room with no windows and there is only one exit from the room
and it is locked. Each member of the team will try and find a way out of
the room.
Let us assume the Chewbacca character tries to knock the door down. He
will roll a 20 sided dice and add his strength points to the amount
rolled. If his roll with the strength points are less than the amount
required to break the door down he fails to knock the door down. Let us
assume he fails to break the door.
The Han Solo character decides he is going to try and pick the lock. He
will roll a 20 dice and add any luck and special smuggler skills to his
roll. He too fails to get a high enough roll to open the door.
The Luke Skywalker player decides he is going to try and open the door
using the force. He rolls a 20 dice, and add any force special points to
his roll. As it happen he also fails to get that door open.
Since all the major players tried and failed to get the door open the
Game Master will try and introduce a new way out. He might describe that
foot steps are heard far down the hall way coming towards the room. The
door to the cell opens and there is a guard with some food trays. Once
again the game players are given options on how to handle the situation.
For ssimplicity sake let us assume the Luke Skywalker player decides to
try and influence the guard into releasing them using the force. He
rolls the dice, succeeds in using mind control. He then instructs the
guard to give them the keys, his blaster pistil, and after releasing his
friends they lock the guard in the cell so he won't contact his buddies
right away.
In a simple example like the one above the game requires a lot of team
play, and the story unfolds based on the roll of the dice and the teams
collective choices. As I said before while they can be computer based
games often as not most hard core RPG players form teams, guilds, and
sit around a living room or kitchen table carrying out some imaginary
adventure.
First Person games are exclusively computer games. Unlike RPG, where the
focus is team play, FPS games are typically single player games. In FPS
games there is not a lot of change in the games basic story line. In
order to complete some level or mission in the game you must complete
some set objectives like kill a certain enemy, find some certain item,
or find some specific exit from the level.
Since I know you have Shades of Doom and Sarah you are already aware of
the basic hallmarks of what makes up an FPS game. While different, both
aren't technically 3D Games, they are still a basic template for the FPS
style of game play.

Re: [Audyssey] top gun

The movie is very good. I have it with Descriptive Narration on video
cassette.

One of the pinball tables in Pinball Xtreme, available from

www.draconisentertainment.com

is a Top Gun table. You need the registered copy to play it. HTH

Who of you have watched the movie top gun? I don't know the movie at all.
I have heard of the movie's name when playing freedom millionaire. Is it
possible to develop an accessible game based on the movie top gun?

Re: [Audyssey] x1

2008-04-19 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
Well, I for one don't remember Rex 1, but however Liam came up with the
name for X1 it sounds like a good name for a evil robot. Have you ever
considered X1 might not be based on anything, and is a product of Liam's
imagination?

Re: [Audyssey] top gun

2008-04-19 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Nicol,
Sure have. It still remains one of my favorite movies from the 80's.
As far as Top Gun games goes none of these are accessible, but there has
been a handful of them released for sighted gamers. There was the
original Nintendo game Top Gun which I played quite a bit. Later around
1995 a PC version of the game came out for Windows 95 with a better
story and much cooller dog fighting. A sequel game, Top Gun Hornets
Flight, came out but the game play was pretty poor. The story line for
Hornets Flight was alright, but the physics and general game play didn't
react well to end user commands. There is a Top Gun III game out for PC
gamers, but I have never tried it.
As far as creating an accessible version I wouldn't think it should be
too hard. It all depends on if you want the arcade feel of the Nintendo
version or the ritcher flight simulation feel of the Windows 95
version. If you want the true flight simulation thing, and then you are
talking some serious math and physics involved in doing 3D flight
control and air to air combat.

[Audyssey] Muelsfell Inquiry

2008-04-19 Thread acarthon
Hi list,
I was wondering about the following message I received. Does this mean
that I was attacked while I was away. I only managed to do my first
tutorial before I got busy doing other things and going out of town.
Should I put my character on inactive if I know I will be away for a
while, or is there another method to ensure my safety?
Thanks,
AC
