The Hale Blade has an 8 mr for attack, 4 stamina, and special magic is 4 sp healing during some atack rolls, but itcosts 7500 in gold. other than the Hale Blade I'd say the Blade of the Fox is the best weapon to have on a free membership to Sryth. The Blade Of the Fox at least offers you a double attack roll sometimes doing some extra damage to an enemy which comes in handy. Hi Yeah i think it has changed. Once when I was down to about 5 sp, the hale blade restored 20 enabling me to defeat my enemy but I guessed I was just lucky because normally I only get healed by 3 or 4 points. Re: [Audyssey] Sryth armour question
Hi Bryan, Oh, yeah. That really would bite. The purpose of getting a really high roll is to lay some major damage on an enemy. When that doesn't happen you really hope you have good stamina stats as the enemy is going to give you apounding. Bryan Peterson wrote: 39 is usually the number you get for rolling a twenty unless the enemy itself is really tough. Lord Delgroth in the Cave of Four Spirits is an example, or perhaps some of Daidrur's later elementals. Re: [Audyssey] pregenerated sryth characters
Hi Justin, In my experience nothing beats creating your own character from scratch. All of the pre-generated characters available for Sryth all lack something or other. some are warrior combat oriented with little or to no magic potential. Others are so focused on magic and have too little warrior combat skills. In the end making your own character allows you to pick what magic, combat, etc skills you want. Not to mention rolling for stats allows you to get a totally new and unique character to play. Justin Ekis wrote: So, has anyone tried out the pregenerated characters available to AG members in sryth? There are a lot of them. Just out of curiosity, which ones did you all like? Did any of them jump out as good choices? This is mostly for discussion. I'm already leaning toward starting the ones called dragonbane and runefoot. Good warrior types with a little magic potential. Re: [Audyssey] pregenerated sryth characters
Hi William, While the Sryth wiki is a helpful resource I wouldn't depend totally on it. After all part of the fun in this game is exploring, and learning from mistakes and successes. Too much cheating is counter productive. Willem wrote: Hi Jimmy. I have a self-generated character that I've been playing for about 2-3 weeks. He has 9 skills and 7 powers, so the same is possible if you generate the character yourself. However you would have to cheat a bit by reading the wiki or use your past experiences to know what skills and powers you can acquire in the game itself. For example the skill of seamanship, woodsmanship and archery is available in the game. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] sryth and the cubes
Hi, I am currently using the Moonglow Buckler shield from Talys trading post. If I remember correctly it has a 6 mr plus additions to luck and something else. Without it I have a 60 melee. I don't think I got Catherine off to a good start. At the beginning of the game I put all of my experience into restoration and elementalism. Now I am slowly but surely trying to train up my weapons so I have a lower than usual melee for my character. I can probably fix that once I enter the proving grounds and some other places were I can get big experience bonuses, and more adventure tokans which will allow me to get a better magical shield. right now I am working my way through the Haunting in Durnsig adventure. Once I complete that I will probably enter level 1 of the proving grounds. Bryan Peterson wrote: Then you'd probably better train u, maybe even get a better shield. Re: [Audyssey] Possible option for testing games
well. I'll assume that if you can play it on ps2, then you can play it on psp. wecanplay.info has the basic data for the menus. I need to put up the rest of those, I just am juggling too many projects right now The only problem I've had with mlb the show is the schedule view when choosing a game in your season. they've messed it up a little bit. I normally just play exhibition games. - Original Message - From: dennis [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 9:19 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Possible option for testing games is mlb 08 the show accessable for the psp did anyone do a deminstration on how to play mlb 08 the show? - Original Message - From: Liam Erven [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 10:15 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Possible option for testing games ps2. mlb the show 08 parappa the rapper 2, if you don't mind memorizing also, anything for ps1 will play on a ps2, so that just opens up an even bigger list. - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 9:14 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Possible option for testing games Just as a point of curiocity... just how unplayable are the tomb raider games? To be honest, that point of the xbox is a bit of a bias. lol. The games aren't the only thing that bothers me. Some are completely playable, but as I said, that number is just outdone by the ps2. And the controller I find is a bit too bulky for me. Below is a list of games that I know about, and I stress the I know about, that are playable on each console. Xbox Mk deadly alliance through Armageddon Soul Calibur 2 Marvel VS. Capcom 2 PS2 Dragon Ball Z: budokai through budokai 3 and budokai tenkaichi through budokai tenkaichi 3 All the games mentioned for the xbox Soul Calibur 3 Tekken 4 and 5 Onimusha: Blade Warriors Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore Naruto ultimate ninja 1, 2 and 3 Urban Reign Barbarian Capcom VS. SNK 2 Capcom fighting evolution And several others. Re: [Audyssey] sryth and the cubes
Haunting in Durnsig? There are several excellent swords in that adventure, but I'd either recommend going for the Dragonwing Breastplate or Warlord's Helm, both of which will add nicely to your MR and stamina. You'll have to identify the helm before you know which one you have, but you'll know right away if you get the Dragonwing Breastplate because it'll say Unidentified Breastplate. The only other torso armor available from that quest is the Shimmering Wolf Pelt, which even unidentified is easy to distinguish because it'll say Unidentified Wolf Pelt. My advice, tedious though it might be, is to leave the pumpkin patch once you've cleared it but before you face the boss. There's a short path back to the entrance once you do reach the end. Rest and save your game, then try the end of the adventure several times until you get the item you want. This means you don't have to go through the entire quest again, and since the item resets every hour you only have to try once an hour. It's well worth it I feel, since both the helm and breastplate offer nice stamina boosts aside from the MR boosts. And the Dragonwing Plate is better than a breastplate you'll have the chance to get in Proving Grounds III, although the restt of that armor is still worth keeping. You can sel that breastplate for some cash if you need it. Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so. - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 7:52 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] sryth and the cubes Hi, I am currently using the Moonglow Buckler shield from Talys trading post. Have you completed any of the roving Grounds? Your MR is about right for the first three or so if I'm not mistaken, and the Adventurer Tokens would enable you to get a better shield depending on what you're using at the moment. Granted I don't know the absolute minimum for taking on the Catamarok so I couldn't say for sure. Re: [Audyssey] Possible option for testing games
Hi Chou, Well, the Tomb Raider games have several accessibility issues that require some kind of sighted help to get you through. Most of the levels are truly 3d, with areas of the level above and below you, and it requires you to jump up and catch certain ledges, safety drop to a lower level, or more recently use a grapple to swing up to ledges or swing over pits. All of the new Tomb Raider games such as Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld use the grapple a lot to avoid traps and above and below your level. this creates problems because you really need to see where to set the hook. On the other hand some areas of the game accessibility has been improving. As of the last few game releases they have put more thought into 3D audio positioning and if you listen carefully you can use thos sound cues to kill enemies. All and all it isn't a game you canplay without sighted help. Though, I am starting my own spinoff series called Tomb hunter with the same kind of action, adventure, and same sort of game play. it won't be Tomb Raider exactly, but close enough without stomping on Edos copyrights. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. [Audyssey] Solving a Sudoku and Fifteen Puzzle?
Hi all, Would like some tips or just some pointers as to how to solve Sudoku puzzles where you've reached a part where it is not obvious what number fits, what is the trick to somehow deduce what number could fit by just looking at the square, row or column, how to sort of see the puzzle as a whole, and to try and somehow deduce the relationship between a different part of the puzzle, how that could have an impact on the whole puzzle. I think the term for these are hidden singles, any strategies to deal with these? Also, what's an effective strategy to solve the BG Fifteen puzzles? I've realised I need to improve with these, I'm not good at thinking ahead to try and plan moves in advance, like with chess, I just can't concentrate on the board/puzzle as a whole, rather, I solve stuff bit by bit, just not good at all with this spatial square stuff and moving things around! Hi I wonder why nobody is recommending the nintendo 64!!! Its one of my favorite systems, but yeah, ps2 was one of my favorites - but it doesn't have as good of memory as the nintendo 64- but this does sound interesting and, since I live in Canada, and since my birthday isn't too long from now (PSP...here I come!) I might be game for trying it if you are, tom (we could both rent the same games and see what we thought of them, perhaps). Have a good day from Tyler C. If you are serious about getting into mainstream games then you are going to have to invest something in one of the consoles, emulators are fine to a point but they will only take you so far and they will always lack something that the dedicated consoles have and in my experience they will usually come up short. I chose the psp because I wanted something I could both play at home and take with me and I heard good things about it but that is certainly not the only choice although I am very happy with it and don't regret spending the money a bit. You could do very well with a ps2 for instance from what I understand however I have not found a really good deal on one yet that is why I don't have one. Best of luck. For me I have a friend that buys games, downloads games and gets games by other means. I mostly get them for sounds, I sometimes play. My main issue is I don't have an adaquit system to play these games well sertainly not a desktop to play these on without mangling the entire things. I suppose I do now with my old half dead laptop. If I took all the software and data off it, maybe, just maybe I could play games, but there is not much space on there, and i have no 3d card. I may have a 733 desktop at some point that with a bit of deleting and formatting could be used although I have to change oses from the systems and only have win98 well I have xp but I have to transfer keys and such to the new box my dad has and well I have no idea. The box crashes every so often and I'm not sure about stability. But if someone gave me something that I didn't have to manage, ie if I wreck the system it doesn't matter, then I probably would test. In theory I could use this one but its my main box pluss the recovery disk is hard to use. Unlike my old system I can't just reformat with a few keys. At 06:28 a.m. 23/06/2008, you wrote: Hi all. As you know I am still looking into convenient places to rent mainstream games to test them for accessibility. One of my nephews who is a big gamer told me about a service that he said might actually save some money and would definitely be easier to deal with. The service is called gamefly and it basically works like the netflix service if any of you are familiar with that. For those who aren't, you basically pay a monthly fee and for that you can be mailed a number of games, I think it is something like 22 or 23 bucks a month if you want two games at a time. There is no return date or late fees you can keep them pretty much as long as you want, in fact there is a way to buy them outright for a pretty good discount if you want to. One game at a time is something like 16 or 17 dollars I believe so it is not that much less so two at a time is probably a better deal. When you are done with them you just put them in the mailer and send them back and if you have another one in what they call your game queue they will go ahead and send it to you. I have not quite decided whether or not I can spend that much extra a month to try this service out for psp games. According to my nephew you will go through that amount of money real quick if you try to rent games from a video store or whatnot plus the inconvenience of having to be sure they are back by a certain date. The good thing is, there is no contract or anything, if you want to quit you just quit. I am not sure if this is just available in the U.S. and perhaps Canada, but I suspect so. If I decide to try it out I will let you guys know. Re: [Audyssey] ps1 and ps2 game collection
I recommend tekken and tekken 4 for the ps2. I also recommend mk trilligy for the ps1, and if you can get it, mk 3. I haven't played bloody roar, but it sounds good, I like the idea as fighting as a tiger for a bit rather fun (if I have a bad day at school I can just plug that game in and roar out my frustrations, literally and figuratively). As far as mortal kombat goes, my favorite character would be nightwolf (he just sounds cool!) and, when I watched the second mortal kombat movie, I thought he sounded tough. Don't ask me why, I just think he was, and stil is, one of the coolest characters. Have a good day from Tyler C.
