[Audyssey] Moderator Warning HumanityMOO Temporarily Down

2008-10-26 Thread Thomas Ward

Hello Tyler and all,
Do you remember the saying, if you have nothing nice to say it is
better to say nothing at all? I think the below post is a case in
point. It is alright to dislike a game, it is alright to give
constructive criticism, and to have an opinion about a game that is
different from the author/creator. However, it is not ok to tell a game
developer to recycle and shutdown.
Do remember that all of us are human and have our own unique likes and
dislikes. Game developers generally like what they create, and don't
mind a little cunstructive criticism or feedback from time to time.
However, when you are negative, insulting, and do nothing but put down
a person or product that person's feelings are bound to get hurt. Even
worse that person may decide that creating future games for the blind is
not worth his/her time, and the blind gaming community suffers as a
result of it.
So consider this as a warning. Offer cconstructive criticism or keep
your thoughts to yourself. It isn't so much what you think, but how you
express it that counts.

Thanks.

[Audyssey] Moderator message length reminder.

2008-10-26 Thread Thomas Ward

Hello listers,
I've noticed quite a number of posts end up in the trash the last week
or so, because many of you have been failing to trim your messages to a
reasonable length. I thought it was time to remind all of you if you
want to post to the list please try and keep your messages to about 8 to
10 KB in length. In other words the message shouldn't contain anything
more than your reply and the message you are responding to. Anything
else is probably too long. If you have received a message rejected post
in the passed two weeks it is probably because your message suffered
extreme bloat and wasn't trimmed to the specified length above.
I know some of you are new to this list, and probably have forgotten to
remember to trim. Unlike other mailing lists the Audyssey list will not
let you simply respond to message after message without trimming them
down in length. We don't feel our list members should have to download
several extremely bloated messages that contains the contents of
100other replies besides yours. That kind of bloated irresponsible habit
might be alright on some lists but not on Audyssey. So please remember
to trim.

Cheers.

Re: [Audyssey] sappy5 in vista?

2008-10-26 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Jimmy,
Unfortunately, when Microsoft released Sapi 5.3 which ships with Windows
Vista the also officially dropped support for Microsoft Sam, Mary, and
Mike on the Vista platform. The only voice that Microsoft officially now
supports on Vista is Microsoft Anna. However, you can still purchase
other Sapi 5.3 compatible voices such as the Scansoft voices that ships
with Openbook 8 and Jaws 9, or purchase some of the voices from Cepstral.
If you absolutely must have Microsoft Sam, Mary, and mike I have heard
there is a way to get them working under Vista, but there is a real risk
of damaging your Sapi 5 speech system in the process. So what I am about
to suggest might work for you and it might not. You do it soully at your
own risk.
In short, if you want to support the older Sapi voices like microsoft
Sam Vista needs to be downgraded back to Microsoft Sapi 5.1. Since
Vista's speech recognition and other Speech services were not developed
with 5.1 in mind doing so can seriously break things and crash speech
services. However, you can download

(SpeechSDK51MSM.exe).
which contains all of the Microsoft Sapi voices available for Windows XP
from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5e86ec97-40a7-453f-b0ee-6583171b4530displaylang=en
and install it. Like I said it might work, and it might just explode in
your face. I haven't quite had the guts to try it myself.

Cheers.

Hi May,
Thanks for this information. I wasn't aware Freedom Scientific made a
special installation for the older Sapi 5.x voices for 2000/XP/Vista.
That is good to know.
I've recently updated to Openbook 8.0, and I'll see if the Realspeak
disk has the Sapi 5.x voices on it. It should if Openbook 8 is shipping
with the same version of the voices as the newest versions of JFW.

 Hi,
Just wanted to let you all that Humanity MOO is back up and running thanks
 to James for the hosting.

 Host: nova.the-jdh.com
 Port: 4000

As far as progress goes, I'll be coding a new space system, which will be
 a
major project. It'll lose the Miriani feel and have more of a realistic
interface and concept similar to Slipgate (the concept of a wide open,
sectorless space with full 3D movement). I also plan to implement an
 energy
system, which will make eating/drinking a necessity. Any other suggestions
 would be appreciated.

 Hi,
Just wanted to let you all that Humanity MOO is back up and running
 thanks
 to James for the hosting.

Any other
 suggestions
 would be appreciated.

yes i agree with the peoples here.
come on, Tyler: some days ago i also say that they can improve the moo,
to how i say, don't stay almost the same has miriani and hell. but i say
it, in a form of suggestion, note saying that the project is realy sucks
and i don't liked it. no, i say that it's fantastic, i just will wait to
more things are implemented, and i'm sure i'll enter.
but if you don't want play, cool, you can program your moo / mud /
audiogame or what you want, but i'm sure that the group that is
developing it is putting time, and many factors to create a good game.
so just don't play if you don't like and don't say it again.

Ya know what?

Tyler Littlefield, please, from this one topic alone (only read this
one as I've een having problems, but that's not for this list), but as
I was saying. All I've seen from VV, whatever that is, VV? What's the
address to connect to? What's VV going to have?

And @recycle #1, for those who don't know, will pretty much destroy
everything. Not going to go into detail, but it breaks every single
verb and function.

Tyler, use your head for once. Van you come up with anything better?
Don't think so. Then again, what would I know, considering pretty much
everyone was bashed. Once again, if you've got something that's
positive, shoot.

Otherwise, I'll end up putting you on my blacklist.

sectorless space with full 3D movement). I also plan to implement an
 energy
system, which will make eating/drinking a necessity. Any other
 suggestions
 would be appreciated.

 Mike

If needed, I have a place to host it already picked out. Actually it was
going to be the box I'd use to develop and possibly run my own, but it
 can
 be reasigned accordingly.

 Subject: [Audyssey] HumanityMOO Temporarily Down

 Hi,

Because of server problems, Humanity MOO is temporarily down, and will
 need
to find a new place to host. I may have a place to host it temporarily
 but
it may move again, so it may be a few days before its playable again.
 Sorry
 for the inconvenience.

[Audyssey] Twilight heroes

2008-10-26 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
Hey all

So I thought I'd give this one a shot. mainly I find it okay but there
are some points quite lacking in I guess it would be information either that
or I'm dumb as a brick.
Anyway there's a couple of questions I would like to pose to see if anyone
can help me with.
One of my first is I got the vip card from the casinos and decrypted it,
however I've no idea where the card currently is. or how to use the
information off of it.
Also the galaria shops thing doesn't seem to be making alot of sense to me
at this moment. Where or what can I do to get a better understanding?
I must be doing a few things right as I'm L6.

   Thanks
Ron

2008-10-26 Thread MICHAEL MASLO
Is it accessible and does it come up with accurate flight routes that if you
wanted to fly on line they would agree? Also if you are using fs 2004 I know
for a fact that Jaws does not work with it. So how you managing unless not a
total.
