Re: [Audyssey] MY complaints about L-works games
Liam the main issue is that with all your email problems, none of us knows what email address is working or if you even recieve mail. lets see you have your liam address at liamerven.com, gmail.com, l-works, then the sales and support addresses for l-works. We don't know if our messages are even recieved man. And yet again I will stress this on list. I am willing to help with requests for replacement keys to take the heat off you. You are a great guy and all but if for whatever reason your tech is just giving you issues and you can't solve them even with your gmail, then maybe its time to get some assistance. I am happy to do this without pay of any kind, well I guess maybe a coppy of all your games but even then its not like I don't have superliam and judgement day. And even if that were not the case I want to help. I have seen you on the random streams, spoke to you on msn, even shared bits with you in early 2002 and so on. I was round listening to you in 2001. I know you are busy thats why I am a lot of us are giving you the slack we are and not getting up on you like a bunch of cards. I can understand not getting a key for ages and ages because you are busy, but the email issue well I have no idea what gets through or what. And its not like I ask much in return either. Just to have picks on testing new titles for windows and maybe a coppy of games for myself if you wanted to really pay me. Seriously I don't need any cash or anything. Re: [Audyssey] MY complaints about L-works games
I understand where Liam is coming from, but what about those people who have mentioned on list that they have waited and waited for keys to games that they have ordered? And how many have said they have tried to contact him with no response? I can see their side on this too. When anyone purchases something, they expect to get what they paid for. All of us feel that way I'm sure. -Original Message- From: michael barnes Sent: Saturday, June 22, 2013 9:30 PM To: gamers@audyssey.org Subject: Re: [Audyssey] MY complaints about L-works games Hello, Liam. Re: [Audyssey] MY complaints about L-works games
Cara, Thanks for that well worded message. I had basically the same idea earlier when I read Lori's message, but really couldn't think of a diplomatic way to say it like you have. I know from personal experience a lot of blind gamers believe or expect that we developers are there to serve their every whim, jump when they shout jump, and when we have other real life commitments like work, a family, or are simply dealing with an illness they think we don't care about them or their money. As you said none of us are getting rich creating games, do it as a labor of love, but have real life commitments that must come first. Its very disheartening when someone on this list or elsewhere starts beating the drums and basically treat developer x as though he or she is ripping them off or that they have no other commitments to deal with. Usually the lack of attention is due in large part to some other commitment like work or a family, and I for one wish the community could be more understanding about that. Re: [Audyssey] MY complaints about L-works games
Lori, not intending this note personally at all, :) but as a commentary on the view people have about Audio Game Companies. Firstly, as has been said before, many of these companies are individuals or groups of 2, 3 or sometimes only a few more people who are doing this more out of a labor of love than desire for money. Again, as has been said, there's really, essentially no money in making audio games for this community. It just isn't a sustainable business model unless devs offer other services as well, and even then, not by much. The fact that Liam's time is taken up with a real job should give people a clue that he's not getting rich off of any of us. Yes? ;) so to create the impression that these game companies don't care about poor blind people is maybe not the best way to go about this. :) Know what I mean? If people are feeling unimportant, then it's our responsibility as a community to bring ourselves to a place where we can contribute more to our own developers so that we become more important. You pay for time, so if you want more time, contribute more of what you can. That could be cash, it could be your own time. The point is; give something to get something. Make sense? :) Then you'll be seen as important to others… Anyway, as I said, nothing personal is meant by this at all. I understand how this may seem like devs don't care but it's usually that they can't keep up because of real-life commitments which actually do pay them so they can support themselves and perhaps their own as well. Re: [Audyssey] See Munkeys are back in the store, plus updates on game progress
well its good to keep updated was wandering where you were hiding. Yes its good to have extra staff to help with your projects, um should I say minions you being the swamp zombie master and all that. Yeah minions. I wander if you could release a vid or audio or something about the construction of the c monkey, and how its done from parts and whats in it to assembly I am sure some friends would like to see that. He has been helping me build See Munkeys for the past few days, so once the next big order comes in, I'll be able to have them built and ready to sell at a much faster rate. We also worked on new construction methods and ordered some new tools that cut down on the time and effort needed to put them together. People have been asking when new devices will be in the store, so I'm reporting in to say that the last 7 are listed before I'll have to order new parts. Another reason for the delay was that one of my parts suppliers sent me some bad parts and it threw off my normal routine. As for the RPG, Hatred and I have been going over parts of the game engine that I haven't been happy with. We are improving them by quite a bit actually, so I'm very happy about that. We will also be doing our best to get the duck hunt game out as soon as we can. The engine changes we're making also affect the code for duck hunt, so that's another reason that small game isn't further along, but in the end the changes will be well worth it. They greatly improve sound quality. I hope to do a better job of keeping people updated on my progress. I'll also bug Hatred to make more audio games for himself, haha! Having him here with me is going to really help in just about every way. It is always good to have someone around to lend a helping hand and to keep you motivated when projects drag on and on for long hours. :D LOL! - Aprone --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Wondering about an old baseball game.
Hi Desiree, I'm not sure but I believe you are talking about the baseball game that came with Microsoft Plus for Windows 98. I can't remember the name of it exactly either, but I have a vague memory of it myself. Anyway, it should run on a new system since everything written for Windows 98 was 32-bit, and can be made to work on a new 32-bit and probably a 64-bit Windows system if the dependencies etc were installed. Cheers!
