That sounds reasonable, but for all we know, there may not b life. I
mean, it is okay if you want to include zombies, as is the case with
most games, but I thought it should be more different. Try to avoid
being hit by radiation, and stuff. See if it can be made more realistic
without any zombies.

Re: [Audyssey] A major problem with the playroom

2012-06-16 Thread Alfredo Castaneda

Hello gamers,
I am experiencing a major problem with the playroom. I made every effort
to try and fix this, but it was not to be. The problem is that when I
open up the playroom, there is no server in the server combo box. I
downloaded the newest version off the site, but it does not seem to have
fixed the problem. I cannot connect to the QuentinC's Playroom unless I
have a server in the combo box, which right now is empty.

Is there a way to fix this problem?
Thanks,
Alfredo

[Audyssey] Top Sped Discovery

2012-06-03 Thread Alfredo Castaneda

Hello guys,
Whilst in a game of Top Speed, something occurred to me as being
something quite interesting to those of you who have a passion for
communication other than casual means. I wondered why I did not think of
it before. I was in a mufti-player race. You all know that the space bar
acts like a horn, right? Well, I discovered that you can send messages
over the wire by tapping on the bar as if it were a telegraph key. I
thought it was a really interesting way to communicate, and I found the
process to be quite slow, as the players of course did not know what
Morse code is.
I do not know if this has already been suggested, but is it possible
that there could be chat communications, such as those set in Acefire,
where one could type a message for all players to see, and it could read
something like, Player X says: Message.
Anyhow, I thought I might point this out. This was with Top Speed III by
the way.
On a side note here: My friends and I are finding out that when you are
using a computer that is receiving internet from a router, you cannot
host a game, but if you are on a computer that is on a LAN connection,
and also broadcasting the wireless signal, then you can host games. Is
this true?

 Hi Thomas,
I was able to review the programming script you provided here, and I could
certainly take that line of code and change the things in the quatation, as
well as providing which would be true. Also, since the game is meant to be
played with an X amount of players, you can provide for that as well. I have
seen some games that ask how many human players are going to be playing. Of
course, that does not mean you have to have those players, but it makes the
game more fun for everyone.

I noticed that in some jeopardy programmed, there are teams, and
categories for x points. You can choose your category, as well as how
many points. If a player say, gets the question correct, they get those

May I make another suggestion? If you can add links to accessible programming

On Jan 20, 2012, at 8:44 PM, Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com wrote:

 Hi all,

I've started working on the USA Games developers website
 http://developers.usagamesinteractive.com
and before I really get started on the language tutorials and things
like that I'd like to get an idea of what you guys want me to do
first. We've got a lot of different programming languages to cover
such as Python, Java, as well as C# .NET, VB .NET, AND C++. I'm able
to write and provide documentation for any and all, but it might help
if I get an idea from you where you'd like me to begin.

While Python is definitely easy enough for beginners I think there is
already enough free documentation available on python.org and through
the PyGame documentation that there are already enough beginner
resources to get people started. All I'd have to do is perhaps link to
them and my job is done unless you want me to attempt to write
something that goes into more depth.

Java is also doable and good free documentation is sometimes hard to
come by. While there are free language tutorials like Thinking in Java
is a great intro to the language the authors fail to write from an
accessibility standpoint. I think Java could use some documentation
written from a blind programmers perspective where SWT is the graphics
API is used as the toolkit rather than Swing.

Plus I've looked at JInput and Joal and while the APIs are decent
enough for game programming the documentation isn't in a form for a
beginner. I think this needs some tutorials aimed at a new Java game
 developer. What do you think?

Finally, there is C# .NET and Visual Basic .NET. There is a lot of
good commercial documentation for these languages, but not a lot of
free documentation. While there are good resources on the languages
I've found documentation on things like SlimDX very thin. Often the
SlimDX developers point you to the Microsoft DirectX documentation
that is geared for a C++ developer. Clearly this isn't going to work
if you don't already know C++ and can translate the code examples into
C# .NET or VB .NET in your head.

Since I know C# .NET very well, and have been working on building a
game engine for .NET languages I think that this might actually be the
best place to start. I'd even be willing to release a public version
of G3D.dll for .NET developers to help ease people's transition to C#
.NET or VB .NET. Any thoughts on this?

 Cheers!
