Re: [Audyssey] An audiogame programming mailinglist?
I like this idea. Brandon - Original Message - From: Davy Kager [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Mailinglist gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, January 08, 2008 12:40 PM Subject: [Audyssey] An audiogame programming mailinglist? Hi All, After all this (offtopic) talking about programming audiogames, I thought it might be a good idea to have a special audiogames programming mailinglist. There, people could ask questions such as: - How do I write a good menu system? - How do I write my own sound encryption scheme? - What maths do I need to accomplish a certain thing? - Which language is best for me, C# or VB.NET? Of course, the listtraffic will not raise as high as that of this list, so in terms of bandwidth it's relatively easy to host. Apparently, I'm willing to host such a list myself, but it'd be great if it could be done under the Audyssey label. What are your thoughts on this? well, being as i've never read thoughs books i have some questions about that. First, how did she become a jedie knight? Second, how did she get a new ship, i thought jade flew the empers hand? I'd rather focus on something like darth vaders apprintice. Brandon - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Friday, December 21, 2007 2:44 PM Subject: [Audyssey] Star Wars Game Discussion Hi Everyone, I know it has been a long time since we have discussed the Star Wars game in production by USA Games so I decided to bring the topic up. I'd like to announce some of the current changes and ideas for the game as well as offer everyone a chanse to openly discuss the game. As allot of you gamers know I have been a very big fan of Mara Jade since she first appeared in Heir To the Empire. I have a large collection of Mara Jade fan collecter stuff including action figures, books, and games. So it is not surprising one of my all time favorite games Lucas Arts produced Was, Jedi Knight II Mysteries of the Sith, which featured, you guessed it, Mara Jade as the lead character. For those of you who have never played Mysteries of the /Sith and want to know what it was about here is a short summary of the game. Following an Imperial attack at Altyr 5 roomers begin circulating that a new Sith Lord has joined the Empire. Jedi Master Luke Skywalker asks his friend, the former smuggler and aspiring Jedi knight, Mara Jade to track down the Sith Lord and stop him at all costs. Throughout her quest Mara must battle Imperial Storm Troopers, Imperial Droids, smugglers, Wampas, Rancors, and even defeat a dark side clone of herself. Finally, once she meets the new Sith Lord does she have what it takes to defeat him? At this poinht in time I am basically thinking of a game based on Mysteries of the Sith with some personal changes tossed in for good measure and to improve the game somewhat. For example, in the original game you would have to steel an Imperial shuttle to escape to the secret asteroid base where the Empire was launching its attacks into New Republic space. Personally, flying around in an old Imperial shuttle is sort of dull considering the kinds of fighters and ships Mara pilots in the books. It is like, hey, what is an ace starfighter pilot doing in an old shuttle? Instead of the Imperial shuttle i could replace it with Mara's personal ship, Jade's Fire, which would just happen to be standing on the North landing platform instead of the shuttle. The advantage with adding the Jade's Fire rather than using the original shuttle is that I could introduce some dog fighting levels which would show case Mara's starfighter ace abilities in addition to her Jedi skills. Another change I feel would improve the game over the original is the switch between level 1 and level 2. In the original game when you ended level 1 you took off in the shuttle. In the next seen, opening of level 2, you landed on the base ready to shut it down. That's ok I guess, but I always felt there should be some sort of combat seen in between those two levels. Some sort of dog fight or space combat seen as you atempt to land on the secret asteroid base. What my thoughts are is in my version before you go to level 2 you would have an extra level in between where you could dog fight against Tie Fighters. You might be piloting the Jade's Fire towards the secret asteroid base when you suddenly get jumped by a squad of Tie Fighters. Before you could land on the base you'd have to dog fight, and destroy all Tie Fighters. Perhaps the biggest change I intend to make is i plan to use Mara for all the game levels. In the original game you got to play as Kyle on some levels, but it was something I didn't care fore. Kyle is an ok Star Wars character, but not my favorite. I always felt the game would have been better if Lucas Arts focussed on one or the other character than switching between characters on different levels. So this is my thoughts and plans right now. Anyone, have thoughts, suggestions, or comments? --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. There is a new game called Say What that sounds cool. Also, I found a little travel version of Bop it, but it's called Click it. It has a click it switch, a mix it knob, a pull it trigger and a hit it button, and it's much faster that Bop it. Like most keychain games, such as fishing and tennis, (I'd like to get my hands on those two games again,) the game gets faster and faster until it's almost impossible to win--I've beaten both bop its but haven't even broke 50 on this game yet. The best bop it style game is Nujam. Mine broke, and it's depressing--but the game is very cool, especially the mode in rhythm jam where you can play all the way through no matter how many times you mess up. Groove it is cool too. I haven't beaten it yet, but I've come very close. My family always laughs at it when I'm playing and then it says, You know the moves but can you do it with the lights out? Anyway, you probably have to do lots of shopping on eBay to find good stuff. You can also look for games called Bird Brain, brain warp, brain bash, brain shift and others like it. There's also a talking yoda complete with light saber. The light saber has a built-in motion sensor that tells Yoda what you're doing. Yoda tells you what moves to do, and as you do them successfully you get promoted from apprentice to master and the moves get more complicated. It's fun to hold him upside down as well. It's not the real Yoda's voice, but it's still a cool toy to mess with. Ken Downey President DreamTechInteractive! And, Coming soon, Blind Comfort! This one girl at uni with me always says that making lots of money isn't as much fun for a blindy, grin, because you can't go and buy fast cars or fun gadgets that are totally accessible! I even look at myself and can't really decide what's cool for Christmas that I'd really like that isn't computer related. I've always been blind, so am not fascinated by colours, fashion or clothing. You could probably buy something if you like outdoor activities like camping or playing music or that stuff, but I can't remember when last I've been able to get something fun that I don't use with the PC. The problem is doing the looking around, I mean, do you go to toy shops, and then, how do you explain to the people exactly what you're looking for? You even look at the blogs for blindies that suggest Christmas presents and they're all suggesting these borring, practical things like daisy book players or a JAWS SMA, the accessible fun topic is really always out of focus. We do not believe that is right to place a game on pre-order unless a gamer can have a chanse to play it, test it, make suggestions, and feel as though they got something for his/her money. James North got himself into lots of hot water simply by taking orders far too early in the development cycle. If he wanted to quit on a project he couldn't because he took money for it. If he took to long on developing he got pressured to deliver a demo or something asap. If family issues came up he was still expected by some on the pre-order waiting list to continue working on the game, and they wanted it the day before yesterday kind of attitude. Then, we got records from him that was years out of date, and the contact information is so old at least haf the customers haven't been able to be contacted. I'd also like to see configurable keys--using the number pad keys makes more sense to me than flinging my hands all across the keyboard. Okay I guess that's two complaints. Anyway, really like the game, especially the trick bop. Haven't gotten to ping pong yet but I'll try tonight. Ken Downey President DreamTechInteractive! And, Coming soon, Blind Comfort! So no there won't be any bonus levels unless we remove the standard game play option. As for a yes/no prompt to save and load games that is possible. We will look into adding it to Beta 8. Re: [Audyssey] Is It Worth Promoting Bavisoft on My Next Podcast?
Hi their, No I don't think it's worth recording a review for a company like bavisoft. Their turning in to the biggest bunch of frauds i've ever seen. Brandon - Original Message - From: Kelly Sapergia [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, November 13, 2007 1:50 PM Subject: [Audyssey] Is It Worth Promoting Bavisoft on My Next Podcast? Hi, I'm getting set to start recording content for episode 6 of my podcast. One idea I had was to redo my review of Grizzly Gulch Western Extravaganza from Bavisoft. Since my original review was in mono, I thought I'd record the new one in stereo, and try to expand on it a bit. However, I'm starting to wonder if it's a good idea, especially after what I heard from a friend. He recently ordered the game, but it's been a month now, and he still hasn't received it. I'm told he tried emailing Bavisoft, and kept getting messages about their box being full. When I suggested contacting a dealer to see if he could get the game that way, he said he did, and was told they were having problems getting hold of Bavisoft. As a result, they weren't carrying their products anymore. So, in your opinion, is it worth re-recording a review for a game from a company that is hard to get hold of? Thanks. Serenade of Chaos Hi, I found something pretty cool while browsing the rec.games.roguelike.announce newsgroup. It's a role-playing game similar to games like Nethack and ADOM but based on the Castlevania gameworld. In adition to the features commonly found in such games there is also sound and music! Bundled in the game download are MIDI arrangments of various tunes from the Castlevania series that are used throughout the game as well ass very decent sound effects. It's all very atmospheric and original. The game features a good story and several game modes such as a prologue, a prelude and a training mode in a dition to the main story mode. The game requires a Java engine and has both a graphical and a text-based interface. The text (console) mode worke dwell for me in Linux, so I suppose it would work pretty well with Windows screen readers too. Now, this is what I'd call a real Halloween treat! :-) Happy gaming, Tobias Go check it out at www.santiagoz.com. Hi, This game requires a Java installation. You can grab one from www.java.com. The game itself is a .jar-file, but to start it you can use the .bat-files found in the game folder. For those who don't know, .bat-files are a sort of script-files that were common in the DOS operating system and that can be used in Windows too. They are simple text files containing commands in the command line environment. The game itself is a roguelike game, meaning it's similar to Rogue, an ancient predecessor to Nethack. Monsters, items and geography in the gameworld are represented by characters onn the screen. In modern roguelike games the characters are often replaced by graphical tiles. I don't know if i.e. Jaws can be used to label these tiles, but what I do know is that this particular game (CastlevaniaRL) has a console mode, which in plain English means a text mode. I've found it to work in the Linux text console. Given that Nethack and similar games seem to work with Jaws, I thought it might be possible even for this game to work with Windows screen readers. As long as you have some way to patch through the audio. Josh, if you go check out brandoncole.net, you'll find a lot of samples of mainstream games for the ps2 and psp. The TV doesn't necessarily have to be connected. Here's a way of doing it. The audio channels run through to RCA jacks, and those make up the two prongs of the cable to connect to the TV. The other prong is for the tv. By an audio device known as an RCA to audio adapter. This turns the RCA jacks into a regular 3.5 mm jack. You plug this into the line in or out hack of the computer you wish, and the audio will come through your speakers once you go to volume controll and unmute the line in. So, to answer the question, no not exactly. And the psp is even easier because it actually has a headphone jack, so you can just use a standard audio cable, as the psp is a handheld gaming system, so it's not really a console. That's your explanation. End of rant. hi their, could you possibly include people such as darth plagus, and the jedie yoda fought on dagoba? Brandon - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Thursday, October 04, 2007 1:13 PM Subject: [Audyssey] Star Wars trailer was Hi Hi Shaun and Hunter, Correct. The old trailer of Jedi strike is no longer available from USA Games, because the game no longer is anything like that old trailer. In many ways I am still drafting the games story line. I've actually deleted and rewrote portions of the game from scratch twice, and still don't have a clear vision of what the game will be like. What I plan to do when I actually have time on my hands to devote to it is start over fresh and begin with writing the games story line, figure out who the major characters are, and then figure out what sounds, effects, music, etc I need to make it happen. Now, this would be simplified if I used an existing story line and characters such as the famous Jedi Knight series. Jedi Knight II, for example, I am real familiar with just because I always had a thing for Mara Jade's character, and enjoyed playing her roll in the game. If you aren't familiar with Jedi Knight II Mysteries of the Sith here is the basic plot. The game starts out with little plot with the Empire sending forces to attack Altyr V, a New Republic outpost, and Kyle Katern and Mara Jade are sent to stop the Imperial attack and escape in a shuttle found in the North hanger. Well, after you escape you follow Kyles trail a little while as he investigates an Imperial starbase built in anasteroid. Before leaving he has to take the base out of action. In level 4 we come back to Mara's quest who is looking for a mysterious new Sith lord who is apparently aiding the Empire. She Basically, battles some stormies, probe droids, dianogas, and she then goes to a kantina in level 6 or so. She is looking for one of Carde's former associates, and ends up battling it out with some smugglers and pirates. By level 7 or 8 she gets captured by Ca'pa the Hut, and the level starts out locked in a cell. Your job is to figure out how to get Mara out of her cell, all by the force of course, kill the gamorian guard in hand to hand fighting, and before she can get to her light saber take on a legendary sized rancor. Who wants to eat Mara. Basically force blind, distract, whatever you have to get passed him, get to the weapons room, get your saber, go back and cut the ugly brute down. Anyway, after you escape Ca'pa's palace you are on a cruiser which gets attacked by Imperial forces. Now, Mara is placed in the roll of stopping another Imperial attack, and quite apparently these troopers are following her around the game trying to take her out. Not that it does them much good. By level 9 Mara shows up in an Imperial city, and there is some lame battles. Not much plot here either, but good fighting. By level 10 the plot begins to glew together. Mara finds herself in a swamp, and finds Kyle's shuttle from level 1 in the swamp. Hmmm... What is Kyle doing here? Well, if you find the secret door hidden in the cave out walks a clone of Mara Jade all mean and filled with the dark side of the force. She'll try anything to kill you including force distruction, force blinding, force lightning, and is a real mean broad. After you kill the clone and enter the cave proper you will have to face an army of dark side zombies which have force powers of their own. If you make it to the main chamber you discover, gasp, Kyle, Mara's former friend, is the new Sith lord. If you choose to battle to the death with him he will rip you a new one. shaun everiss wrote: I don't know there was an old one but it was real crappy, maily because it was a semi alpha of an alpha, and then things are changed and such and I have no idea whats up. Sounds like the person you have contacted is interested in how we can play games, otherwise, he wouldn't know where to find these text games we can play. Many games needs just a bit of ajustments to be fully accessible. Of course not with fully spoken menus, but many games would be able to complete by a blind person. I know a lot of games witch would be able to complete by us blind gamers, if all text in the game was fully voiced dialogs. Think about how much speech they have to record. Why not just record the rest of the dialogs, so we don't need sighted assistance to read the text for us. If they are interested, it's very important to show or tell them these small ajustments we need to be able to play more of their games. What do you all think? Hi list, Sometime next week I plan to take up work on Raceway again, and before I do I'd like to have some good discussion on the kinds of tracks the game will support. Obviously, it wouldn't be Nascar-like without 2 mile, half mile, and 1 mile oval tracks. However, I'm thinking the game could be more interesting if there were some unusual shaped tracks like s shapes, figure 8 tracks, and so on. What do you racers think? Also Nascar tracks tend to always move counter clockwise. Yet some games like Poll Position had clockwise movement as well. Any preference here? Re: [Audyssey] New RPG
hi chea, does that mean we on the audyssey games list will be able to play this game? Brandon - Original Message - From: Che [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, September 23, 2007 1:55 AM Subject: [Audyssey] New RPG A quest generator will be included, much like the way a track editor was included with Rail Racer, though the quest generator will be much more user friendly. I will have a few folks checking out submitted quests, and if they are good enough they will be plugged into the game, this way fresh content will continuously be added. I want the system as open ended and modular as possible, so players can create their own monsters and items as well, but obviously anything that is created will have to be made official before inclusion into the game. You will be able to play in this world sooner than you think perhaps, as I plan on releasing the beta to subscribers as soon as it is in a playable form, though it won't be near its finished state at that time, this way I can get good feedback and players can enjoy the experience and help create it at the same time. Not sure about monthly price yet, but it will be closer to $5 than $15 for sure. One other tidbit, we're going to be playing in a world that is a mix of magic and modern weaponry, so you may for instance be able to cast a spell on your bullets, so they cause a web of netting to grow over your target after making impact, that sort of thing. Stay tuned... Che - Original Message - From: Dark [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, September 22, 2007 9:21 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] New RPG and Sound RTS and its potential Good grief Che! this sounds fantastic! I've been waiting for this type of game for a veeery long time indeed. Obviously now your only in the very preliminary planning stage, but one question that does occur to me regards updates. Personally, my favourite aspects of rpg gaming are carrying out the various quests and enjoying the plot, and the exploration of the different environments of the world. I've been incredibly jealous of my brother (a big world of warcraft player), not only because of the game itself, but because of the frequency of updates to both the world and the quests. so, will the system be such that new quests and areas to explore will come out on a relatively regular basis, - obviously not every week as in warcraft, but more than say, every six months. I know it's a very early point to ask the question, but I sort of vaguely got the idea that some program code can be written in such a way as to make new add ons and so on easier to create. the voice chatting also sounds cool! finally, any vague ideas on price? depending upon update frequency, I'd be quite willing to pay as much as $15 a month for a game like that. If it's too early to think about these sorts of questions now, I appologise. It's just coming back from my weekly dice roleplay session, and finding this mail, my brain is whirling with expectation and possibilities, - even if it is likely to be a while before anything concrete turns up. all the best. Re: [Audyssey] deal or no deal
now that would be a fun game. Brandon - Original Message - From: Josh [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: gamers discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Wednesday, September 19, 2007 5:05 PM Subject: [Audyssey] deal or no deal Hi, It would be cool to have a deal or no deal game as a kitchen's inc game. here are the rules for it. Only difference being might as well just use American dollars. Deal or No Deal involves a contestant, a host/presenter, a banker, and a number of briefcases (or boxes), with each having a different (and initially unknown) value. Each game starts with the contestant selecting one of the cases-this first case's value is not known until the game ends. During the rest of the game, the contestant opens the rest of the cases, one at a time, revealing its value. Each time after a specified number of cases are opened, the banker offers the contestant a certain amount of money to end the game. If the contestant takes an offer, the game ends, otherwise the contestant ends up with the money from the first case. Since the range of possible values for cases is known at the start of each game, how much the banker offers at any given point changes based on what cases have been eliminated. To promote suspense and lengthen games, the banker's offer usually strays from the expected value dictated by probability theory , particularly early in the game. [1] However it is not uncommon for the bank's offer to exceed the player's expected value very late in the game.[citation needed] Worldwide, the largest amount offer (in terms of exchange rates) was ?1,495,000 on the original Miljoenenjacht, on November 13, 2005 (which was accepted; the contestant's case only had ?1,000).[citation needed] Only a few people have ever won the top prize on any version of the show. I think what jim does to make the truck sound rev up and down when changeing speeds is simply change the frequency over a set amount of time. if we'd have several truck idling sounds to choose from then there could be sound packs, or in a future trucker when you choose a truck a particular sound could then be assigned as that truck's default sound for the whole game. Unfortunately, along with this mass market stuff were quite a few cracks of accessible games and other software designed for the blind. I was taken aback at finding this, as I naively thought no sensible blind person would host such damaging things. When you download an audiobook, you are taking away a bit of money from a company that is never going to miss it. Same for audio described movies to a lesser extent. But when people host cracks of accessible software, they are helping to cripple the development of that software. The accessible software market, and especially the accessible gaming market is extremely small, and even losing a few sales to piracy hurts. It discourages developers from working on games that we all enjoy, and most especially from putting in considerable time producing the kind of immerssive and complex games we are thirsting for. I would like to spearhead an effort to put a stop to this, as it is only hurting us all in the long run. If you know of any sites or servers out there hosting pirated accessible software, please write me off list and let me know. I will not mention your name, and I won't be a jerk to the person hosting the files. As I did in this case I mention, I will send a letter to the person hosting and ask them to please reconsider hosting files that put a bottleneck on a market that is already very small. No one is ever going to get rich making software for the blind, but the developers making the effort should have at least the small reward gained monetarily from the sale of their hard earned work. If we can get these sites to stop hosting such files, I promise you it will make a difference in what we all get to use and play with on our computers in the future. For reference please read guideline 9 which will clarify the rules regarding this issue. Also I would like to make a point often it is not what you say or what you ask, but how you ask or say it. In the post below the way Bryan frames his suggestion sounds sort of rude and condescending. Weather he meant to do so or not I don't know. Rather than saying what Bryan said he might have asked the question like, Please, can you use a grammar or spell checker the next time you post? A full compliment means four rings, and one piece of armour of each other type, head, torso, arms, hands, waste, legs, feet, back and tabard. there is also currently one item in the game described as Armour, wrist as well. As to the old cathedral, you need to find and defeat all four guardians to open the exit to the lower level. Just in case you need them, I'll give the directions to the guardians, but if you'd rather find them on your own you'd better stop reading now: guardian 1: from the entrance, head north until you come to an East/west jungction where you should go west, then south, then east, south, and west again. guardian 2: At the previously mentioned east/west junction, head east, then quite a long way south, then east, and finally north. Guardian 3: from the entrance head south, then at the east/west junction go west. Take the first north, then west and south. guardian 4: This time, head east from the previously mentioned junction, then go north until you reach a passage to the west, follow that round to the south and east. to find the entrance to the lower level, just go east from the junction mentioned above (the one south of the entrance. Re: [Audyssey] bavisoft's lack of customer service
bavisoft is a joke. Their a frod and i wish they would go out of business because of their lack of good service. Brandon - Original Message - From: Bryan Peterson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Friday, November 03, 2006 3:44 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] bavisoft's lack of customer service There's also the fact that it takes them four years to release games that, to be quite honest, have little to no replay value even with the other difficulty level. Even the higher difficulty setting doesn't really make for a harder game. Only the fights get harder. Then you have BSC's titles which, unrealistic as many of them are, actually step up the pace of things a considerable amount from diffcuty level one to level 2 and even more on Insane. And yes, Bavisft's prices make their titles that much more undesirable. I understand that in our market you kinda need to charge a litle more, but even so most of the time we're still paying less than we would for the average mainstream game. And while GMA Games' titles are a bit pricy they're still reasonable, particularly since they actually require you to think. They actually challenge you. I still haven't figured out a strategy for completing Sector Five of GMA Tank Commander even after two years. - Original Message - From: Stephen [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Thursday, November 02, 2006 10:39 PM Subject: [Audyssey] bavisoft's lack of customer service Hi. I've been watching the chillingham discussion and just thought I'd share my experiences when trying to ask for support from bavisoft. Firstly, a little background information. I have a hearing difficulty, I use a hearing aid, I have no hearing in the right ear, and only limited hearing in the left, but my hearing is pretty good when I have the hearing aid in, or when I am wearing an earpiece attached to the computer using jfw/windoweyes or playing adventure games etc. I borrowed someone's copy of grizley gulch and tried to play it, only to find out that I wasn't able to play it properly because it required you to have the use of both ears. I explained this to bavisoft, and I didn't receive one response at all. That was well over a year ago. As first impressions go, it's not good business, I'm glad I didn't fork out the dough to buy it because I wouldn't have been able to play it. Sorry to come across a bit harsh. Apparently I hear it's the same with chillingham, you need the use of both ears. ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] self destruct
hi where can i get this game with the keygen? Brandon - Original Message - From: Nicol [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: blind gaming gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, October 22, 2006 7:33 AM Subject: [Audyssey] self destruct Hi all The file was successfully sent to robin kip. I'm very excited to hear what you all think about the game. I'm looking forward to those tips on how to beat the urchin lord! If anyone comes across the latest version of self destruct which is version 1.2, please send it to me! this version I sent was 1.1.6. ON the audiogames.net website I read about version 1.2 where there is murchin robots from whom you can buy items. and the urchins can sometimes destroy the murchin robots. this feature is not in 1.1.6. Here you buy items from a store. You press the letter d and then you can choose to buy items or track an urchin. If a copy of version 1.2 can still be found somewhere maybe the bug where the game's sounds gets mixed up after you died in the urchinlord battle, is fixed in 1.2. Please feel free to ask me should anyone need some tips on the game. I have beaten the urchin lord on easy difficulty level and I've beaten all 10 levels on normal difficulty level, I'm now busy with the urchinlord fight on normal difficulty level. The urchin lord battle on normal difficulty is a bit harder than on easy and that's where I need tips, but furthermore the game is exactly the same on normal as on easy. ON easy the urchins entering room 91 gets a fatal shock, but not on normal. ON hard the urchins will chase you and on insane the alpha urchin will also set mines that you need to avoid and the medic urchin will try to kill you. thomas and raul, please don't consider this as a cracking discussion. since the game is no longer supported by the developer,I can surely explain to the guys how to register the full version. You will find a file named keygen.exe in your program files folder after installation. run this file and paste the key into the box when you start the game. First you need to copy your product ID. So you first have to go into the game, wait for the voice that say: please select a difficulty level and then ensure that your screen reader is on and go into the registration menu with alt+r and select create product ID. Then type in your name and press the copy product ID button. Then close that dialogue and exit the game with shift+del. Now go into the game again and make sure the key has been copied and paste it and you will have a registered copy of the game.If you don't create the product ID, the game will not work; you will only have the demo. The best is to use sappi5. the game supports jaws and window eyes, but I have found with jaws that the speech doesn't syncronize with game play. IN other words, when you press spacebar on the pass processor if you have the chip, if you use jaws with the game jaws will speak while the pass processor is destroying itself. With sapi, sapi will first give the information whether to use the bom or to find the teleporter, and after sapi finished speaking the pass processor will destroy itself. The same with the road runner urchin. If you are using jaws the moment you are teleported into the bonus level, the road runner urchin will start moving while jaws is speaking, but with sapi it will speak and then the road runner urchin will move once sapi finished speaking. And I can't find window eyes to work. When I have window eyes active and I press its key in the game to use it as active voice, I get an error that window eyes is not installed. Brandon - Original Message - From: Ryan Strunk [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 'Ken the Crazy' [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 'Gamers Discussion list' gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, October 22, 2006 11:18 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] playability of Playstation 2 games? I think it all comes down to what you're looking for in a game, how much sighted help you have, how much you're willing to experiment, and a whole host of other factors. In the end, it all amounts to how much accessibility you want, and what degree of inaccessibility you're willing to put up with. Would you know just from the sounds that one of Scorpion's combos in MK III has him pulling out a battleaxe and slicing his opponent up with it? Can you tell what a fatality does just by the sounds it makes, or do you need a sighted person or internet site to describe them to you? Personally, I'm into the games purely from a point of nostalgia, and enjoy watching someone play if they describe. Occasionally, I'll even pick up a controller, study the move lists, and do a little button mashing myself, but I also won't convince myself that I'm really playing the game. I could probably steal a car in GTA III, and could probably shoot a few people, but I could never jump the buildings on my motorcycle or take pictures of the philandering senator--and if I can't do those things, I can't complete the game, and if I can't complete the game, is it really even accessible? Re: [Audyssey] Raceway, news, plans, and updates.
hi thomas I can't wait for this game to come out, I'm a huge nascar fan and I've been looking for a racing game for years that plays like nascar. Brandon - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, October 08, 2006 11:25 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Raceway, news, plans, and updates. Hi Gary, Gary Whittington wrote: For having wav sound names why not go with general terms like buddy, pal etch for the pit chief Sounds ok. That could be done. and for the track announcer just go with the number of the car. Makes it easier when the announcer might say number 54 just whiped out! Number 45 is turning in for a pit stop. You get the idea. Red Flag conditions: Indexing, Awh, very good. Lots of things will need to be saved not only with the player condition, like tires, gas, spoiler, and any damage to the car, but the rest of the field. So, glad to hear that its a matter of plugging in the info of what needs to be saved. Well, like I said I might just tell the function to save car43 to saved.rw, and it will save it and all it's related data including location, damage, state of the fuel, tires, etc... ON returning from a red Flag, I see two reasons that may be inputted in the race summary. Weather conditions or debris, as well as oil on the track. Yeah, and of course you might have at least one lap of yellow flag conditions after the red flag condition for all cars to get back in to the race. Although, I believe the rule is three laps in Nascar. When the gamer is back in the saddle, I would start the game back at a speed of say 10%. This would be cutting down the speed from 200 to 20mph on super speed ways It would be as though standing still on these track. Yeah, makes sense. Keeps the player from plowing in to a wall or another car when starting up. last comments about number of race cars. When I was able to play NASCAR how they handle the visuals and sound effects was by letting the gamer select from a combo box the number of cars that they could see in fromt of them or in the review mirror.. Oh I see what you are getting at. That I can do. Basicly, in our case how many AI engines you can hear. I think James was planning something like this from what I saw in the rw source. He seamed to be working on a feature that would limit how many cars you could here at any one time in the game. Sounds like what you are saying. For sounds it had to do with turning on or the announcer and the number of motors you want to hear. This number was never higher then four. Which would be pretty realistic... Yeah, and I can do that. For the other cars a simple pass effect would be fine for when they pass you, or you pass them, but as far as engine noises just the four cars nearist the player. At the most times I would hear three other motors and mine own. Since this will be a audio game, I wold say four motor sounds would do the job. I agree. Four should do the job nicely for realistic effect. Winning races is not won by the fastest car, but the driver who can get to 500 miles the quickest. Exactly. That is how Raceway is going to be played. So, finally, the number of cars in a race should not be the problem, since all the cars will not need sound effects, just those that are close to you. I see where you are coming from. However, wow you want me to really work like heck on this game. That means I have to come up with an AI system that will support 42 indipendant cars. That sucks, and don't expect this game until 2020 or so. Just teasing. Actually, though it will be more difficult for me to program that many cars. I may not do the full 43 cars in the first reason do to the nature loads of people want this game, and it has been shelved for most of it's development cycle. I am hoping for something by next year. ___ Gamers mailing list .. While I'll agree that yes, Bavisoft games are rather more expensive than they ought to be, I wouldn't go so far as to say they're not worthwhile. Yeah, both games are extremely linear and therefore the replay value does suffer rather severely, I still enjoyed both Grizzly Gulch and Chillingham and, whenever it comes out I'll probably buy Chillingham 2...after Kelly Sapergia or somebody reviews it that is. Since Bavisoft doesn't release demos, playable or otherwise, of their games (well, they didn't for Chillingham), the only way for us to get a feel for them is through an audio review. Thanks. See, now someone else agrees with me on that point. It's absolutely uhm shell we say, not fun to play due to the lack of sound efects, and music.
