Also, how do you save your character so it doesn't lose all its
equipment when you log off outside the safe zone.

I have the same problem if I use any version of jaws higher than 7.0.
With Jaws 8.0 and above I can read the yearly reports wit Jaws key plus B.

While you are there you might want to check out the java mud client and it's
scripts.
I like it better than Gmud and find it easier to use than monkeyterm.
