you know what would be really cool is if there was like a pure PK mud
that wasn't just chasing people through rooms. It would be sweet if
there was a virtual battlefeild mud that was accessable to the blind.
The ones I've seen that look awesome either have no player-bass or are
not accessable(IE, aski) Any ideas there?

I'm actually not a player at present, as I don't have the time to dedicate
to serious RP, but for what it's worth ...

A lot of your interaction is around talking to other players and getting
experience for it. The story is basically a conflict between mages and
non-magic users. If a mage is caught, he or she is burned at the stake. The
problem, though, is that nobody knows who the mages are, so a lot of the
plot centers around that.

There isn't much fighting unless you do it against animals. In fact, if you
kill a human, your character is covered in blood for a time. If someone
catches you that way, they will do their best to bring you in.

You get your income the way you get experience. You can use free experience
to purchase a wealth level, and as you gain rpxp, you also gain money.

It's worth a look. If you can apply to be a mage, you'll find some really
sweet mechanics there.

You might take a look at The Inquisition. It actually has a system in
place

where you can gain experience for roleplaying. You do have to emote
everything including combat, but the emoted combat actually has a neat
mechanic.

Example:

Cemote 's face contorts into a mask of fury as he lunges forward,
unleashing

a powerful overhand slice.

Keywords: *lunges *powerful *slice

The mud will then total up all of the action points involved in those
three
keywords, do a bunch of number and target crunching, and then let me know
if

the attack was successful. Now keep in mind you can't emote something like
"cemote strikes @target in the face," as you don't know whether the attack
actually succeeded, but the system gives room for some really neat RP
while

at the same time giving you actual numbers and mechanics to wrap your mind
around.

I don't have the connection info, but you can easily find it on mud

Re: [Audyssey] moos/muds without stats

2009-04-01 Thread Shadow Dragon
I might be able to recommend some, but I'm not sure what you're looking for.
A mud that has no mechanics, but isn't total RP or social? That kind of
illiminates, um, everything. Miriani's really the only mud, well that and
now star conquest, where I can see RP really working, because its actually a
seamless blend of RP and mechanics. Games like shadows of issildire have
backing mechanics, but they make no sense, combat especially, it has the
feel of just going into combat swinging randomly and hitting whatever you
can rather than a focused warrior trying to take down his enemy. And that's
one of the more popular RP muds out there. The other's I've tried either had
no playerbase, or had massive application processes. That sort of thing puts
me off. Just FYI though, not trying to sound arrogant, but basically every
mud is blind accessible. I've only found a couple out of mudconnector's
gigantic database, and I've played a ton of muds in my time, that were truly
inaccessible. Usually they're either browser based or heavily ascii
oriented.

Anyway, you could try a couple of the muds I listed in this message if you
want. But I’m probably not the best person to make RP mud recommendations,
since usually if I try an RP mud, its not to RP, but to avoid RPing as much
as possible so I can try out the usually highly advanced mechanics.

Yeah a role-playing mud would be nice. But I don’t need like total
roleplay, like, you emote everything you do. Those are rather annoying
to me. Are there any that you’d recommend? I know I’m sounding like a
demanding moron. But searching mud connect for blind-accessable muds
has been rather fruitless and now I’m turning to my fellow blindys to
help me out(lol)

There're about 6.5billion mushes, muxes and other such roleplay style things
out there for just strict roleplay if that's what you're looking for. Seem
to have become especially popular over the last few months for some reason,
which is a shame since I'm more mechanically inclined. Anyway both
