You can bounce email off a big server like yahoo, google or third party web based only easy, but it still shows the ip of where it came from if you dig enough. The only way you can show as another person on a list is through there account being that they are a member. For that you would have to have there log and pass to use there providers web email. Doing it from there computer is even harder. I would bet that the one doing it is friends with those getting blamed, and has there log and pass from just being a friend. If you give that info to another then you do deserve the trouble that comes with it. Hi, It shouldn't make a difference weather you use www or not. I just tried it with the www prefix and the web site comes up fine. I tried it without and got the same result. I honestly can't figure out why or how you guys could be having errors seeing as everything is working correctly as far as I can tell. Hayri's post was the first I had heard of anyone having issues, and I'd dare say the issue is on his end and not mine. true however I do know that yahoogroups does check to see if you are subscribed. the spam message is not origional you can get stories for this on the net I just tried to search for such and there are a lot. email addresses and names are not hard to obtain, in fact email addresses are quite public as well as names because you register everywhere, no biggy. over that though, in the header you need to have things like the program you use for email, and extra stuff from various previders. so unless you stripped stuff out just before it was sent, but thats almost impossible. All you need to send an email are headers stating who the email is from, the subject and a couple of other things. Those are the bare minimum. I don't think there's any technical requirement stating that an email even needs to come from a valid address. Email wasn't built to be secure. well I just wandered if this is how this attacker is doing this. you would still need to log in using an account though. still trying to piece this. This guy then is not directly hacking, but then the only way is that he is redirecting something somehow, but thats probably only part of it.
