Hi Kai,
Thanks for the hint,
I was sellecting the torch with enter, but but not hitting the space bar
to light it.

Now after lighting the torch, I can see!
And I now hear the torch burning sound!
Boy, there's a lot of stuff to pick up!
smiles,
Phil

Greetings Alex,

A torch is not automatically when it is selected. To do so, depress your
item application key (Spacebar for the keyboard layout). Upon doing so, a
continuous fire sound effect should play for the duration of your
torch's

lit condition.

Well, do to the number of requests Beta 2 will automatically light one
of your torchs when it is selected via the 9 key or from the inventory menu.

Re: [Audyssey] how to tell if a torch is lit or not

2009-02-25 Thread Scott Chesworth
There are separate sounds for the torch being selected, alight, and
extinguished. The sound of a torch alight and burning is an obvious
indication that one is alight to my ears.

It's definitely possible to hold a weapon in one hand and your torch
in the other, of course having both hands full would make climbing
tricky, and possibly should make opening doors and moving statues
tricky too, though it doesn't currently.

Moving through the water on the beta level doesn't extinguish your
torch, but jumping into it will because the water splashes up when she
lands in it. You'll know this has happened by the sound of your torch
extinguishing, and the absence of the sound of your torch burning. If
you collect up a few torches, find your way back to the water and play
around with it, once you get a few tries to pick out the sounds you
shouldn't be needing spoken prompts for this stuff.

Did I miss anything?

Scott

 hi list.
OK, I have another question about torches, at the moment please correct me
if I am wrong but there seems to be no way to tell if a torch is lit or not.
at the moment when we select the torch there is just a fire sound which is
the same for when we light the torch or extinguish it.
so could a feature please be added to find out if a torch is lit or not, and
maybe different sounds for lighting and putting away.
also, is this a bug or intentional, but I don't think it is possible to have
a torch in your hand and be holding a weapon which seems a little odd as
presumably your character has 2 hands.
Last question for now on torches but when we go into water and the torch is
lit is it put out by the water? as there seems no way to tell.

Regarding holding the torch and a weapon: As stated before, once you select
the torch, you are only holding it, not lighting it. After lighting the
torch, you will be able to select a weapon and still have a lit torch.

And, yes. Torches are extinguished by water.
