While at the moment I don't seek ASF membership, I think
it would be excelent if more jakarta commiters who
are and have been active in this community send mail
to the pmc and ask those who are members for nomination.

Right, definitely, it can be done manually on any project via the
Ant/Maven/Eclipse/whatever plugin.
But the fun part of the web page thing is that you can see how everyone's code is
working. And since a cron job is running it hourly, it's always checking
the latest stuff...
Fun stuff,

Speaking of mass source code analysis, here's some of the Sourceforge
projects and their unused code stats (unused locals, unused fields,
etc):
http://pmd.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/webpmd.pl
I thought about doing a similar page for Jakarta projects - just use the
anonymous CVS access for each Jakar

On the unused imports, heres some empirical data for I collected on
Eclipse and some other (
As far as I can tell, that's up to the ASF to decide
on a case-by-case basis. So I suggest that if you
think your experince would make a valuable
contribution to the ASF, ask our PMC for sponsorship.
The worst they can do is say no.

If we're expected to nominate ourselves as such, it'd be nice to have some
guidelines as to what we should be looking at in our day-to-day Apache
goings on to know that the time has come. So we don't look like young
punks :)

However, there's no time like the present to find out.

Non-english speakers are welcome in the POI project. It is currently
acceptable to even post in native languages provided you
label it as such. Currently we don't have any korean-speaking
committers, but it would be most feasible to have a bilingual person
deal with the only-korean-speaking dev

The way things work round here is that people do the things they want to do, no-one
can make anyone volunteer.
The James project is happy to link

I think we'd be lying if any of us said we'd never done something similar
Hi.
Above all, we appreciate your hard work in jakarta project.
Due to your efforts, we can develop programs in easier, more scalable,
more stable way.
I tried to sent you this mail two days ago, but I heard your address
