Does anyone has more insight to this? I know the solution is to add more
RAM but is that really a solution? I mean, it's like storage, is there
really such a thing as I've got enough storage?

Is this a feature or a bug? It seems that emerge -C will not remove any
altered files from /etc/ once it has been changed.
This really leaves some cruft in my /etc/ Is this due to config-protect
or is it something else??

The difference is the usage of devpts vs udev.

As of yesterday, when it pulled in the new bunch of gst-plugins etc, it
started working again.

If I read the command correctly,
1. Connect to remote machine
2. Tar up the /src directory
3. Dump to the LOCAL machine as backup.tar.gz
correct? Does it work?
