[Gimp-user] gimp script-fu

2008-08-02 Thread Helen
In the previous verion of Gimp that I was using until recently,
there was a Script-fu tab, with things like Old Photograph.
That was gimp 2.2.10.

Now, I've upgraded to 2.4, and I no longer have the script-fu features.

Is there something I can do to recover this feature?

 TIA,
Helen

Almost all of the commands that used to be available under the
Script-fu menu are still available; they've just been moved to more
appropriate locations in the menus. Until you become familiar with
their new locations, you can use the Xtns-Plug-in Browser to find
the new location.

For example, typing old photo into the Plug-in Browser provides its
location as being Filters-Decor-Old Photo.

Re: [Gimp-user] Colour correction affecting only particular colours

2008-08-02 Thread Elwin Estle
This is how I would do it, tho there may be other ways as well. I would
duplicate the layer, do my color correction. Add a layer mask and paint the
mask such that the areas that I did not want to be corrected showed through,
feathering the mask appropriately where necessary. Perhaps kinda tedious if
you have a lot of images, but it would work.

 Hi all!

I have been struggling to correct skin tones in GIMP
 without affecting
other colours of the image. The problem is that whatever
 method I use
(channel mixer, colour mapping, hue/saturation on
 particular colour
channels), some other hues are also affected (green, blue).

I tried also Select by colour and modify just the
 selection, however, I
have not succeeded to correctly select just the skin tones.

Pictures are better then words, so here is an example
 (screenshot of
Picture Window Pro's Colour Correction). Image on the
 right is being
corrected to get closer to the image on the left, preview
 of the change
is on the top. Note that other hues (tree branches,
 clothes) on the
preview are the same as on the source image.

Is there a way how to do this in GIMP?

I would try complex selection -- for example, you can select the skin
pretty well using FG-extract selection tool, then deselect green thing
and dress using Magic Wand.

Thank you -- It's surprising how much time I can spend looking in the wrong

I'm sure there are other script-fu filters I had been running, but can't
ask for them by name because I
don't remember what they were. But you did say almost all ... so I
 guess there are some that
were included in earlier versions but no longer? Is that the case? We've
 lost some?
Would it be too much to ask for a kind of rundown on what's been lost,
 what's still available?
I cannot give you that, however, if you open the Procedure Browser and
search 'script-fu' all of the available scripts will show up in the
list of procedures.
