Hi, the answer is: never, because not GIMP is bound in no way to X11, but to the GTK. A stable GTK is unfortunately for Apples OS X only for an X11 backend available right now. Von: Axel Wernicke [EMAIL PROTECTED] P.S: not you are the pain, but X11 is to a certain degree on OS X... Well, if there would be some OS X users who'd try to build GTK+ without the X11 dependency (see http://developer.imendio.com/projects/gtk-macosx) and then did use this GTK+ and build GIMP, we might see some progress towards a GIMP which does not require X11 on OS X. I don't think that it makes any sense if a regular user is trying to build GIMP unstable to the GTK/OS X pre alpha. I'd love to provide my Mac for some experiments, but I think an experienced dev is needed to support this. Anybody willing to give it a try? lexA Am 21.02.2007 um 18:05 schrieb Michael Schumacher: Von: Axel Wernicke [EMAIL PROTECTED] P.S: not you are the pain, but X11 is to a certain degree on OS X... Well, if there would be some OS X users who'd try to build GTK+ without the X11 dependency (see http://developer.imendio.com/ projects/gtk-macosx) and then did use this GTK+ and build GIMP, we might see some progress towards a GIMP which does not require X11 on OS X. Right now, it is rather easy to get the impression that no one does try to build GIMP - especially the current development releases or even SVN trunk - on OS X at all.
